MergeDraw supports Acorn's interactive help application supplied on ROM in
RISC OS 3 machines, and on applications disk 1 on RISC OS 2 machines.
This program has been tested on RISC OS 2 and RISC OS 3.10 machines, so
the program will work with these versions. Please note there is no convert
to path on !Draw via Risc OS 2.
I cannot be held responsable for any loss of data in using this program. As
recommended with all applications, make sure that any work is saved first.
What is MergeDraw?
------------------
MergeDraw is a program which makes the creation of 'merged' draw files very
easy indeed. See the examples directory for a better outline of what the
program can produce. If you have a draw file which is completely made up of
lines (a line art file) you can use this program to merge all the paths into
one single path, reducing file size. If there are colours overlapping, it
will become transparent in the overlapping region.

Each file in this directory is under two parts. There is the 'Original'
which was produced in Draw, then there is the 'Edited' produced by
MergeDraw. The results from MergeDraw are possible to do in Draw, but will
require a great deal of time and effort, and the results may not be as good.
How to load MergeDraw.
----------------------
Loading is in the usual RISC OS manner. Double click on the icon in the
filer window. After a short pause, the icon will apear on the right hand
side of the icon bar.
Using MergeDraw.
----------------
NOTE: IF YOU WANT TO USE FONTS IN YOUR FILE, YOU MUST CONVERT THEM INTO
PATHS FIRST. DO THIS BY PRESSING MIDDLE BUTTON IN THE DRAW WINDOW, AND
SELECT > CONVERT TO PATH.
Drag a draw file on to this icon, and you will be presented with a save box.
Either type in a full filename, then press RETURN, or drag the icon to a
filer window (the better way). After a couple of seconds the file will
appear in the filer window. You can now load it into Draw.
NEW FEATURE IN VERSION 1.56!!! - If you loose the save box, but haven't
saved the file, click ADJUST over the MergeDraw icon to open the last save
box.
If you click MENU over the icon, then you will be presented with this menu.

1) Load up draw, then open a new file.
2) Create some squares, overlapping each other somewhere on the page.
3) Now make some circles overlapping the squares.
4) Select the text tool, and a suitable font and size, and enter your name.
5) Select the text, then convert it to a path (see the !Help file).
6) Make sure that this text is over the other objects.
7) Put the text to the back of all the other objects (Ctrl + B).
8) Select all the objects (Ctrl + A)
9) Choose a fill colour.
10) You can select a line colour.
11) Save the file.
12) Load up MergeDraw.
13) Drag the saved file from Draw, onto the MergeDraw icon.
14) Save the draw file from MergeDraw, then load up the file into Draw.
Risc OS 2 users skip option 5 as this is not available.
