!Crossword - Help for version 1.0

Crossword allows you to design and play conventional crosswords. It has facilities for exporting the grid and clues in standard formats for use in DTP packages. Once completed, crosswords can be 'protected' to prevent them from being re-edited.
Playing a Crossword
-------------------
Drag a crossword file onto the crossword icon or any open crossword window in order to load it. Three windows will be opened these are :-
1. The crossword window
2. The clues window
3. The guess window
In order to guess a word either
1. Click select on its clue in the clue window.
2. Click select on its number on the crossword.
(If there are both across and down words of the same
number set the Across/Down icon in the guess window
first.)
3. Select whether it is across or down and then enter its
number, both in the guess window, pressing return.
The clue for the selected word will then be displayed in the guess window.
Now enter your guess in the guess box and press return or click select on the try icon.
If your guess is right the word will be entered into the crossword and its clue will become faded in the clues window.
Clicking menu on the crossword window brings up a menu allowing you to see who wrote the crossword, who has completed it and also to reset the crossword to its initial unsolved state.
When you have completed the crossword you will be given the opportunity to enter you name into the completed list displayed from the menu.
Saving your positon

It is possible to save a half completed crossword to disc and come back to it at a later date. This can be done from the icon bar menu.
Designing/Editing a Crossword
-----------------------------
Selecting the Design option from the icon bar menu will change the three crossword windows to their designer equivalents. (This option is not available if a protected crossword has been loaded.)
To enter a new word into the crossword type it into the top left of the Enter Clue window and select whether it is to go across or down. Now click select on where the word is to start in the crossword window and if the word fits it will be inserted into the crossword. If a clue has been typed into the three other icons this will be saved to memory. The clue can be added or changed at a later time by re-typing the word and clue then clicking select on the Add icon. Alternativly click select a word in the clues window to have it and its clue entered into the Enter Clue window.
To delete a word from the crossword click menu on its start in the crossword window. (If there are across and down words starting at the same position select whether it is across or down in the enter clue window first.) Then select the delete sub-menu and click select on the word to delete it.
The other options on this menu allow you to clear the crossword grid, save the crossword or its component parts and also select whether the crossword is protected or not.
