Diffdim/ReadMe

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Acorn user 3D series program information
----------------------------------------

The programs in this directory accompany the on going series describing
advanced graphics techniques and their application to 3D computer games.

Program 1 : Demonstrates the generation of fractal terrains.
Move the mouse to scroll the terrain.

Program 2 : Demonstrates the process used to plot the 3D terrain.
Moving the mouse left and right rotates viewer.
Verical mouse movement results in vertical viewer displacement.
Press left mouse button to accelerate, right to reverse and
            middle to halt.

Program 3 : An improvement to program 2, whereby the distant parts of the landscape
are subtly represented using fewer triangles resulting in faster display.
Controls are the same as program 2.

Program 4 : Show the animated fractal cloud routine.

Note, if sufficient video memory and hardware is available Programs 2 and 3
will reconfigure to run using 24, 15 or 8 bit colour at 320 x 256 pixel
resolution.
