This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Microsoft Multimedia Catalogue ============================== CD Readers ---------- This application is an example of a CD reader. A CD reader allows data from a PC CD to be used from RISC OS. This means that CDs we have written readers for do not need a PC card, or !PCSoft. They run in a RISC OS window, multitasking with other RISC OS applications. You can print with RISC OS printer drivers, and save data to other applications (such as !Paint and !Draw) using drag-and-drop. This application ---------------- This particular reader will allow you to use the Multimedia Catalogue which is found on many Microsoft CDs. If you have a Microsoft CD then look for a directory called 'MMCAT' in the root directory. This directory contains the data needed for the !MMCat application. Even if you don't have a suitable CD, you can still run this application to see what titles have been - and will be - converted. Usage ----- From the main window, click on a product name to get more information. From the product window, the 4 buttons down the left hand side will bring up more information. The 3 buttons at the bottom are used to navigate between pages. When you have finished, click on the close icon to bring up availability details. Click 'Quit' to leave the program. Notes ----- We recommend that you use a screen mode with at least 256 colours. For pre-RiscPC machines we suggest mode 28, if you have a RiscPC then try mode 'x640y480c32t'. Due to space constraints, this reader does not support 16 bit sound. If you have an Acorn (or compatible) 16 bit sound card then our commercially available readers will use it where they can. To run our CD readers, you will need a machine with 4Mb of RAM, and RISC OS 3.1 (or above).
