Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

!UIM_Edit - Version 2.4x - July 16th 1991 - !Help file This is the latest version of UIM_Edit in which I have got the program to load in a Character file from disk, or Hard Drive, ANY character! Not quite a total rewrite, but... Please read !Read_Me! if you haven't already done so, that one gives the warnings and copyright waffle. This now carries on from that. Version 2.30 no longer requires !UIM to be present, only a valid !UIM Character File. It is no longer restricted to Brogan, the 4th Dimension's default or start-up character. So far, it will happily work with any valid !UIM Character File. Obviously, I do not accept any responsibility if it doesn't, but it should! How to use the new version:- First of all, double-click on the !Uim_Edit icon in the Directory Viewer, then once it has located itself on the right of your Icon Bar, Click on the Sub Icon with Select (Left button). This will bring up the Main Window. In this you have the Filename the program will use to save your amended file to disk, which you can alter, and the many options you can change. From the amount of cash you start with, to the power of your armaments through to Mission Modules and so on. Use the mouse to select as many as you want. One word of warning though, although the program will allow you to select EVERYTHING, this will mess up the screen display when you actually PLAY !UIM. You may also drag an existing Charater File to !Uim_Edit, this will be examined to make sure that it is a !UIM Character File, then providing the various checks are satisified, the data will be decoded, then the main window will be updated. Once you are happy with your new character, simply click MENU in the main window, then on Save, or likewise on Save on the Icon Bar menu, either of which will save your new character to the default filing system where you can then drag it where you will and name it whatever you desire. Obviously the program could be fooled ift you drag a file which is NOT a !UIM Character file, but has the same attributes as the program is expecting, but if you do that, then the resulting chaos is on your own head! ============================================================================ Version 2.31 (17th July 1991) Includes Interactive Help messages at last! However, you will need something like !Spy to read them. ============================================================================ Version 2.32 (28th July 1991) Couple of slight errors had crept in, the Network select didn't! I was checking the wrong variable for valid values, corrected that, then noticed that one of the extra items was not being reset. Altered the way in which the resetting is done to correct this. Also !Uim_Edit now uses Interface for improved Info Box display. My thanks to Simon Huntingdon for (i) developing the Interface Manager and (ii) allowing it's use for PD applications. ============================================================================ Version 2.41 (August 1991) Now uses Paul Hobbs PD Shell Application as the basis, far superior to what I was using before. Now allows any number of windows, as many Icons as I need and offers far more than before, yet so much easier to use! Highly recommended!
