This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Program Store is a fully comprehensive disc based storage system that has
been specifically written to help all disc users to know how many programs
they have, on what disc the program is, the file name of the programs and
the author's.
Program Store has several unique features over other disc storage systems.
The first of which is the ability to list a full screen of all your
programs up to 300 under 1 file heading,this has a distinct advantage to
those amongst you who have not yet acquired a printer, to look at your VDU
and browse a page at a time backwards and forward.
Epson compatable printers can be used to print your records in unsorted or
alpha sorted lists.
Program Store has many more useful features incorporated as you will see,
you will find it very easy to use and user friendly.
There are 7 pre-set data files to store your programs in under the heading
of :- GAMES, ADVENTURES, MUSIC, EDUCATION, UTILITIES, SPARE 1 & SPARE 2.
Each data file will hold up to 300 records.The total records on a disc are
2100 on 80 track discs or 1500 on 40 track. (Due to the lack of space on
40 track disc's only 5 data file's can be created and used.)
Unlike other storage systems there is no need to set up Records, Fields,
Headings etc. it has all been done, just put it in and use it.
All screen prompts that contain a '?' require an input and RETURN, all
others need only the appropriate key to be pressed.

To run Program Store first put your System disc (The disc with the
Program Store programs and data on) in DRIVE 0.
When this is done CHAIN "SETUP" <RETURN>.
You are now requested to select one of the DATA files to work on.
First time users will have to create the data files, see option 3 on the
main menu. (or page 9 in this manual)
Main Menu Options

The data file selected will be displayed on the top left of your screen
and the Option selected will be displayed on the top right of the screen.
40 track users please note that there is not enough room to keep your HELP
text file (PS/INFO) on, This will have to stored on a separate disc.
WORK DATA FILE
1 - List All Programs.
2 - Search For a Program.
3 - Enter Data Into File.
4 - Make Corrections to File.
5 - Delete From Program File.
6 - Return to Main Menu.
7 - Change Data File.
Option 1 on the Main Menu will take you to the Work Data File Menu.
The free and used records of the selected data file will be displayed at
the bottom of the menu.
LIST ALL PROGRAMS
-----------------
Option 1 on the Work Data File Menu will allow you to list all the
programs in a selected data file.
The data file name and total records will be displayed, you will be
requested to enter the record number to start the list from, if you wish
to list all programs enter 1 and press <RETURN> (Enter 0 to return to the
Work Data file Menu).
17 records will be displayed on the VDU at a time. To see the next page of
records press any key, if you wish to see the last page of records that
was displayed press the "<" key.
This option allows you to browse through the file at your leisure. To
return to the Work Data File Menu press the "M" key at the end of any
page.
Each page will display 17 records containing :-
1 Record Number
2 Disc Number
3 Program Titles
4 File Name of Programs
5 Author of Program
SEARCH FOR A PROGRAM
--------------------
Option 2 on the Work Data File Menu allows you to search your records.
You can search under the headings of :-
1 - RECORD
2 - DISC
3 - PROGRAM
4 - AUTHOR
5 - MENU
Searching by record number allows you to display that record only.
Searching under the other headings (DISC, PROGRAM, AUTHOR), Program
Store will search all the records, displaying on the VDU any records it
was instructed to find, all the records information will be displayed.
You can use all or part of a word when searching I.E. :- If you are
searching under the heading of PROGRAM and you enter "AB" all the programs
with the letters "AB" in it will be displayed.
The records will be displayed up to 17 at a time on the VDU. A prompt will
be displayed "PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE <M>enu" at the end of each page if
you do not wish to continue with the search press the "M" key at anytime
the search is in progress to return to the Work Data Menu.
The time taken to search your records will depend on how many records have
been used.
ENTER DATA INTO FILE
--------------------
Option 3 on the Work Data File Menu will allow you to Add or Insert data
into a selected data file.
To enter data into a data file, you must first CREATE a blank data file
(See create data file on the Main Menu).
When adding records to a data file, Program Store will find the end of the
records and start adding records at this point (If there is enough room).
If you wish to insert data into the data file, enter : the record number
to add the new data after, when this is done the remander of the records
will be moved down and renumbered to make room for the new record.
If you wish to see the catalogue of a disc enter "*" for DISC followed by
RETURN. You will then be prompted to enter the drive number (0-3) to be
catalogued, Put the disc into the drive selected and press any key to see
the catalogue. When the information required is obtained from the disc,
press any key to return to the ENTER DATA MODE. You will be prompted to
swap the disc being catalogued with the SYSTEM disc (The disc with the
Program Store programs and DATA).
Data is entered into a record by :-
1 - DISC (4 CHARACTERS MAX.)
2 - PROGRAM (25 CHARACTERS MAX.)
3 - FILE (7 CHARACTERS MAX.)
4 - AUTHOR (8 CHARACTERS MAX.)
If you enter more than the maximum allowed characters in a field, the line
will be erased when return is pressed, you will have to enter it again in
a shortened form to fit into the space allowed.
After data has been entered into a record you will be asked if it is
correct before it is saved on disc. If it is not correct you can re-enter
data by pressing the "N" key.
When finished with this option enter "END" for disc followed by return,
this will take you back to the Work Data File Menu.
MAKE CORRECTIONS TO FILE
------------------------
Option 4 on the Work Data File Menu will allow you to make corrections to
your records in any of the selected data files.
You will be requested to enter the record number that you wish to correct,
if you enter a record number that has not been used you will be requested
to re-enter the record number. If <RETURN> is pressed with no entry you
will return to the Work Data File Menu
The record you wish to correct will be displayed on the VDU, You can now
correct any of the fields. If you wish to leave any of the fields
unchanged press <RETURN>.
When you have made your corrections, You will be asked if the data is
correct, If it is correct press the "Y" key to save the corrections to
disc, If it is not correct press the "N" key and you will be able to
re-enter the correct data.
If you wish to leave the record unchanged enter a "*" for the DISC field
and press return, this will take you back to the Work Data File Menu
leaving the record unchanged.
DELETE FROM PROGRAM FILE
------------------------
Option 5 on the Work Data File Menu will allow you to delete unwanted
records from a selected data file.
Enter the record number to be deleted (0 will take you back to the main
menu) and press return. The record will be displayed on the VDU, You will
be asked if this is the record you wish to delete,"Y" will delete the
record and "N" will give you the option to change the record to be
deleted. It may take some time to delete your records, this depends on the
amount of records that have to be moved to close the gap where the deleted
record was.
If you have more than one record to delete, delete the record with the
largest record number first. (Due to record number's changing when
records are deleted)
After a record has deen deleted you will be asked if you you wish to
delete any more records. "Y" will allow you to delete another records, "N"
will take you to the Work Data File Menu.
** WARNING **
If a record is DELETED the data in that record CANNOT be retrieved later.
RETURN TO MAIN MENU
Option 6 on the Work Data File Menu will return you to the Main Menu.
CHANGE DATA FILE
Option 7 on the Work Data File Menu allows you to change the data file to
be worked on
SEND DATA TO PRINTER

Option 2 on the Main Menu calls up the Printer Menu.
PRINT DATA
----------
Option 1 on the Printer Menu allows you to send an unsorted or sorted list
to a printer. If a sorted list is selected, the selected data file will be
loaded into memory and sorted before being sent to the printer.
The records will be printed in page form, with 60 records per page. Each
page will contain :-

Program Store is setup for use with EPSON compatable printers.

Option 3 on the Main Menu is selected to Create Blank data files ready for
use (300 Records).

FIRST TIME USERS
----------------
First time users will have to create ALL the data files. This is done by
selecting each of the data files in turn (GAMES, ADVENTURES, MUSIC,
EDUCATION, UTILITIES, SPARE 1 & SPARE 2). Use option 2 in the Create Menu
to select the data file to work on, then option 1 to create the selected
data file. The data file to be created will be seen in the menu option 1.
80 TRACK users can create all of the data files. 40 TRACK users can only
create any 5 data files.(Due to the lack of space)
CREATE DATA FILE
----------------
Option 1 on the Create Menu allows you to Create a selected data file. If
the selected data file exists on the data disc you will be given a warning
and an option to overwrite it or to end and return to the menu. If you
wish to create a data file that has already been created you will be asked
to enter a password, The password is PASSWORD.
CHANGE DATA FILE
----------------
Option 2 on the Create Menu allows you to change the data file to be
created.
RETURN TO MAIN MENU

Option 3 on the Create Menu returns you to the main menu.
*** WARNING ***
If you overwrite a file with data in (i.e. re-create a file.), all the
records in that selected file will be erased.
