*INFO Compiled by Dave Lawrence and Dave Acton Run this application to open a directory containing the programs from this month's *INFO column. Distort takes any mode 15 screen picture and wraps it around a sphere. Before running the program you must have a full screen, mode 15 sprite handy. If you have none, you can grab a snapshot of a mode 15 desktop with Paint. When the program is run you will be prompted for a radius, which can be anything between 0 and 512. The larger the value the larger the resulting image but the slower it will animate. WindMove is an application which allows windows without title bars or scroll bars to be moved and scrolled. Run the application to install it on the icon bar. Pressing Select while over the icon will cycle through the four functions (move, resize, horizontal and vertical scroll), and the relevant portion of the window and arrow are highlighted on the iconbar. Adjust will return to the greyed-out icon, and the facility is switched off. When a particular function is selected, moving the pointer over the work area of any window on the desktop will result in the pointer changing to the shape of a hand. The window can then be dragged. FDModAsm and MakeDList implement a star command to allow rambling directory trees to be searched quickly. For information on how to create the module to provide the command, see page 93 in the magazine. Mira is a fractal generator. When it is run it will ask you to choose one of eight shapes for the fractal: simply press a number between one and eight. Press ESC to terminate the program. Mould is a graphical demo to do with mould. There are six options offered by the program: press a number between one and six to choose. Press ESC to terminate the program. Bell7/1 is a one-line bell ringer. When you run the program, it prompts you to input the number of bells, the pattern of changes in place notation and the delay after each bell. The program will then ring rounds. To ring the changes, press and hold down SHIFT until the start of the next pair of rounds. Once started, you can release SHIFT. IceTrain/1 is a one-line graphical demo. Orblet/1 is a one-line game. Press a mouse button to make your orblet bounce off the left-hand side of the screen. You can move over the thin lines, but the large blocks are deadly. Tune/1 is a one-liner which plays a tune in three-part harmony. The Challenge directory contains the programs concerned with the Life for Two competition. Before running the Life32 program, you should double-click on ThisDir to set the CSD correctly. Whitehouse is the competition winner of the Ominoes challenge. ArcUtils and Calendars are bonuses for the disc, and contain their own instuctions. To load these, click Menu over each application icon in the directory, and choose the Help option from within the App subdirectory. It helps if you load Edit first. Finally, the EightBit directory contains programs for use on the eight-bit BBC range only. The programs are included here for reference.
