This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Welcome to the second exciting issue of Archimedes World. We hope that you
will enjoy all the software which we have chosen for this issue. Read the
instruction files on disk and the articles in the magazine to understand how
to use them fully.
The programs !CardBase, Columns and !Filer are all copyright Argus
Specialist Publications, 1991. !MagpiRead and Guide are copyright Longman
Logotron. They may not be copied or resold except for the purposes of making
a back-up copy. Purchase of Archimedes World by a school or college is
inclusive of a site licence for the software. !DS_Edit is a public domain
utility and the program accompanying the Eureka! column remains the
copyright property of the author.
Before doing anything else, make a backup of this disk. Only us4�� � � �� � � �� � � identally deleting a file, you
can just make another backup from the original. The '!AWMar91' applicatio.
directory contains all the software on this disk. You can copy the
application to a hard disc or to the RAM disc if you wish and it will run

The menu will appear
exactly as you left it.
Each sub-menu contains one or more programs. To run a program, simply cdick
once on the icon. There may be instructions on using the program which can
be viewed on screen. Read the instructions before you run the programs as

It is fully multi-tasking on the Risc OS desktop.
Columns is one of those games which are very simple to play yet
infuriatingly addictive. Once you have played one game you just will not
want to stop.
!Filer makes file handling much easier by providing facilities such as
setting common file types, copy options, parking hard disk heads, etc.
Regular Features
The files Program1 and Program2 and the application in the LookInHere
directory demonstrate software protection methods. These programs are
explained in the Programming The ARM article March '91.
The Water_Tank and Traffic BASIC programs are detaileD )n the Fire Alive
article.
Eureka is always full of bright ideas to help you solve your problems. The
SpriteJoin program provides a clear example of how to add one sprite onto
another.
To fill the spare space on this cover disk we have included one of the
Public Domain programs which are described in the March '91 Nearly Free
article. The p �a�rIK� cc+! DSEdit and is a very handy desktop utility
into which you can load any sound sample, play and edit it. The program is
included on the disk as a free piece of software. As it is public domain you
are free to copy the program as many times as you like and to give copies to
whoever you choose. This only applies to the !DSEdit application.
Earn �800 From Your Program
We pay up to �800 for software published in Archimedes World. We are
interested in applications, utilities, graphic screens, animations, clip art
sprite/!Draw files, music, sound samples, games, demos and anything else
that is interesting and original. The only limit which we apply to software
for the cover disk is that it has to be less than 200k in size. Look inside
the magazine for full instructions on how to submit programs to Archimedes
World for publicati'n.
Wanted
We are particularly interested in an automatic file compacting and
de-compacting program. When a file has beeN compacted onto disk you should
be able to double click on the icon and the code should load, automatically
decompact and then run. Also we would like a text display relocatable module
which provides a * command to display a text file on the screen. It would be
nice to have a RISC-OS window with the text in but it does not have to be
so. It would need at the very least keyboard controls for scrolling the text
up and down and printing out to the parallel port. If you have written or
would like to write either of these programs then please let us know.
Public Domain
If you are the author of a public domain program you will be interested to
know that we are able to distribute your programs. By including your program
on the cover disk you will reach an audience of thousands of Archimedes
owners. We often have some spare room left on the cover disk so why not let
us fill it with your software?
Software Sale
The quality of the software on this cover disk is very high. It is typical
of the quality of software which has been published every month by A&B
Computing over the last few years. To make sure that you have not missed out

Software submissions which are larger than the 200K limit for the cover disk
