This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

WimpBar 2 v1.62, � 1998 by Technium 220 ��������������������������������������� http://www.technium.demon.co.uk/ mailto:t220@technium.demon.co.uk *** Introduction *** Put simply, it's another of those programs that provide a button bar at the top of the screen. The difference with this one is that it's *free*, *small* and will be supported and updated for the forseeable future. And it does some other vaguely useful things. To read the full manual, you'll need a copy of Guttorm Vik's StrongHelp 2 application. The manual can then be viewed from either the Help option from the filer menu, or by clicking on 'Info' in WimpBar 2's main menu. To make any real use of this application you'll need to have a small amount of technical knowledge to edit the configuration file, because we still haven't got around to writing a nice configuration program for it. *** Installation *** First installation: Copy the !WimpBar2 application into !Boot.Choices.Boot.Tasks, so that it will be run each time the desktop starts up. You'll need to configure WB2 to suit your set-up before it becomes useful - see the manual for details. Upgrading from previous versions: From v1.60, WimpBar 2 will use the !Boot.Choices structure (if available) to store its configuration. Therefore upgrading from an eariler version has a few problems... If your Choices file is found inside the new !WimpBar2 directory, it will be copied automatically when you choose 'Configure'. You should delete it from the application, and then move any of your own macros to their new location, leaving only the default macros inside the application. There's more detail about this in the manual. NB: You are advised to read the Changes section of the manual for details of previous updates, some of which will require modifications to your setup. An example of this involves v1.50 and v1.51, which used a different syntax for sprites in menus, etc. If your Choices file contains any of these, your menus will look slightly odd, to say the least. *** What's New in this Release *** * New (hopefully permanent) e-mail, website and maillist addresses. * Bug fix: using an alternative timezone of GMT +0 didn't work. * Tidied up a couple of things for Acorn User release.
