This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

This program works, however, I will not be held responsible for any damage
it may do to either your filesystem or the files it handles. That said,
I've just stripped 5 entire directories without a hitch, so it's not that
bad!
Purpose
=======
Like so many people working (or attending) UK universities, I have to
endure using a PC. This means that as PC's are thick, they don't know what
they are loading without an extension. On Acorn machines, this is not
needed.
This program strips the extensions off. Simple as that.
How to do it
============
Load the program up as you would normally. Two windows will appear. The
action window looks like this

Drag all the PC files to the square box. The window below this will tell
you the filename currently loading. You can to a maximum of 77 files at one
go (which is one directory!).
When they have loaded, click the process button. The bottom window will
tell you the file being stripped followed by the file being renamed when
the stripping is complete.
If you are not happy with the files loaded, press RESET (or select it from
the iconbar menu)
It takes about 15 seconds to strip 77 files.
The sprites
===========
Alright, the iconbar and the one in the drag box are a bit naughty, but
they are nothing worse than you would see on any calendar (well, that's my
excuse and I'm sticking to it!). The picture rather ironically fits the
program (it is a very modern - and legal - Traci Lords calendar picture!)
