Some of the features which are now fully working in version 4.12 are: The chart features in 4.12 go quite a long way beyond the original specifications. Unfortunately a consequence is that the documentation provided in the Tutorial and Reference Guides is incomplete and in some places inaccurate. we are very sorry about these errors. On the Examples disc in directory Charts there is detailed information of the changes to the documentation. The charts directory also contains some tutorial files which should help you get started with the charts. %H2%PipeDream to Impression converter Since version 4.10 we have been supplying a PipeDream to Impression file converter on the examples disc. Those who bought pre-release versions of PipeDream 4 may not have a copy of this if their master disc has been upgraded and not their examples disc. If you do not have the converter on your examples disc, and you would like one, please return your examples disc to us with a covering note for an upgrade. %H2%!System Due to lack of space, the !System directory is now supplied in compressed form inside the !PipeDream directory. Since the files in !PipeDream.System are compressed, you cannot copy them into your own !System directory. The same files are supplied in uncompressed form on the PipeDream 4 Examples disc in !System. Use the files from the Examples disc if you are making an up-to-date !System directory. %H2%Font Manager PipeDream 4 Charts need version 2.42 or later of the FontManager in order to work correctly. If you don't have this loaded when you start up, PipeDream issues a warning. On the examples disc in directory Fonts is version 2.44 of the FontManager. We would like to thank Acorn for permission to supply this to PipeDream 4 users free of charge. Note that the FontManager we are supplying does not include any fonts. The best fonts to use are "outline" fonts but these are not provided as standard with RISC OS 2 computers (anything not an A5000). Provided as standard are "bitmap" fonts which are older technology. If you have outline fonts on your computer already you can ignore the font manager provided on the examples disc. If you do not have outline fonts and are using a version of the FontManager earlier than 2.42 you will need to merge the FontManager provided with your !Fonts directory from your application discs. Hints on how to do this are given on the examples disc. Finally on fonts, more and more applications can make use of outline fonts and benefit from them. Outline fonts work much better than bitmap fonts and are much more pleasant on screen and printout.
