LETTERS/BOARER1
This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

6th.November,1994 LETTER 5 Tony Boarer 0752 771276 Dear Gus, Just a quick letter this time. Someone said recently that they do not wish to read their own letters - but then how does anyone else? Having read mine I see a few errors and omissions. Firstly, I did not put my name at the top as read from my disk and so LETTERS 1 to 4 are by A.N.Other and nobody knows how to contact me with their redundant items! This is not your fault for we must do the maximum to ease your load. You are certainly not making many mistakes. I rather agree about your comment on titles, and I would like to know a little about members - one would know more if meeting as a Club (or Group to be pure!). I certainly do not complain about anything published in E.U.G. I have the entire set of Electron User (again electron user to be pure), including the the first four issued with Micro User; but I am not at all interested in most games - so I did not bother to study them. I'd be surprised if everybody enjoyed everything in their favourite magazine. I do not consider that we should put on to you the task of editing things out - your freely given time to produce the E.U.G. is surely enough and members should do their very best to ease the load. In this last disk the Mangerial Irony struck a chord. In stating my main computer set-up I did not mention that I had the AMX Mouse conected via the SLOGGER PLUS2 User Port. Additionally I will soon be ordering my second ROM128 to go in page 13 under the BBRAM by lifting the latter with two of the blue "spacers". This needs to be above BASIC because some of my ROM's will not work properly or not at all below BASIC - e.g. XBASIC. This latter is a fascinating ROM for those who are mathematically inclined and normal BASIC can be used with XBASIC in command. Also, for example one can LIST a program from XBASIC with one command instead of installing LISTER, a utility given in Electron User some time back. XBASIC does require a 64K computer, however. In LETTER 4, although I mentioned my 2 times 16K module (incidentally this can work as one 16K RAM freeing a page - and the second page can be any other free one), I did not say that I had this made up before the advent of the SLOGGER PLUS2; but I still found I had capacity problems. I cannot see any capacity problems now and my third ROM128 will go in the ROMBOX+ with the SLOGGER EXPANSION ROM as one of the eight. The switchedlead will come out from the gap in the ROMBOX+ between the box and the CLICK cartridge. The disk shows all my "pound" signs as a "hash". I have to type a "hash" to print out a "pound". Your printer prints a "hash" if a "hash" is in the text. I would have play around with the Panasonic DIP switches from the default. I've noticed from other letters I have received from elsewhere that this is a common default situation. Did I say a short letter? Sorry, one gets carried away at the computer board! One never knows what is around the corner. No more car maintenance for sudden constraints put on me - but in true computer fashion I'm trading them in for a new model with computer control of the engine needing practically no maintenance. LETTER 6 sometime hence. I have not got to the problems bit yet. P.S. Does anyone have a spare SLOGGER STARSPELL ROM? I think it would save me some time! THE PROBLEM OF THE POUND SIGN IS ONE THAT I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT. I WANTED TO PUT ONE OF THOSE PATCHES IN WHICH WILL CORRECTLY PRINT THE SIGN AS IT APPEARS ON THE SCREEN. TIME OF COURSE. YOUR INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR PRINTER'S RESPONCE TO THE ` SIGN HAS SOMEWHAT COMPLICATED MATTERS. ON MY PRINTER THE ` PRINTS AS A ' WHILE ON YOURS IT SEEMS AND NO-DOUBT OTHERS IT IS A #. SO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD. PRINTOUTS OF THIS LETTER WILL BE INTERESTING.
