Regulars/StarInfo/Weaver/!Equs/Templates
This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

R4 R4 R4 A simultaneous equation is in the form below: small256 5x + 3y = 31 x - 2y = 1 For most equations of this form there is a unique solution. In the above case the value for x=5 and y=2 because: 55 + 32 = 31 and also 51 - 22 =1. You can guess the answers but it is easier to use a mathematical method. However, quite often these methods can become tedious. Surprisingly, this is where Equs comes in. When you click on the icon bar icon a setup window will appear and you can OK R6,3 choose how many UNKNOWNS you want to use. For the above equation there are 2, ie. x and y. After entering the number of unknowns you want to use you will need to choose what you want to call the variables. Normally x, y, z etc. will be chosen R4 Equation Solver r1 but if they correspond to real things you may choose names such as: Current, Current etc. or Apples, Oranges, Pears. You then need to enter in the data. This takes the form of a table with the unknowns along the top and the equation numbers down the side. For 3 unknowns the table would look like this: In each cell enter the corresponding data from the equations so for the above table: 3 apples + 5 pears + 0 bananas = 2.30 2 apples + 7 pears + 3 bananas = 3.68 1 apple + 0 pears + 6 bananas = 2.00 When you click on Calculate then the cost of one apple as 20p, one pear as 34p and one banana as 30p will be given.
