!Dalek/!Help
This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Dalek Animation By Peter Clements IMPORTANT: Read the following three notes before running this application. NOTE 1: This application will only work on computers with 2Mb or more of Ram. NOTE 2: This application has been compressed using Computer Concepts' Compression. The code will automatically be decompressed when it is run, but you must make sure that your Scrap application has been seen by the computer. If this is not the case, an error message will be shown reminding you to open a directory containing !Scrap. NOTE 3: The application may not run on machines which are short of memory, in which case the screen will simply flicker ad infinitum. If this is the case, you should decompress the application on to a hard disc or a blank floppy. To do this, double-click on !Dalek while holding down CTRL. After a short pause a directory window will appear, containing an application directory called !Dalek2. Copy this on to another disc by dragging the icon, and the demo will be decompressed and should run with no problems. Run the application to show a rotating Dalek complete with digitised sound effects. The sound can be turned off by doing the following before running the demo: Press F12 Type: Speaker Off Press Return twice To re-enable the speaker, repeat the process, but type Speaker On instead. For details on how this animation was created, see page 68 in the magazine. Copyright BBC Acorn User 1993
