CREATING UNDERLAY
� Transcribe the notes for the passage you
want to write underlay against
� Choose one of the Text�Underlay styles
� Click Adjust beneath the first note of the
passage. Sibelius will position the caret
at a standard distance below the stave
� Start typing words.
To advance to a new syllable, press '-' once
for each note the current syllable lasts
for. So after a four-note syllable, type
'----'. This does not specify the number of
hyphens that will appear - that depends on
the note-spacing.
To advance to a new word, press the space
bar once for each note the current syllable
lasts for.
� When you reach a rest, click Adjust below
the first note of the next phrase to
continue.
EDITING UNDERLAY
Underlay is edited just like other text, a
syllable at a time.
Additionally, you can adjust the length of
lyric lines and lines of hyphens by pressing
Select on the right-hand end and dragging.
For lines of hyphens you may have to click
somewhat to the right of the last visible
hyphen (because the line can extend invisibly
beyond this).
