The document processor for the Archimedes.
Impression is a very flexible DTP/word-processing program. Hopefully it is
easy to use but there are inevitably some features which may appear to be
obtuse or complicated at first...
DON'T PANIC!
You cannot damage the program or your computer by misusing Impression so
experiment with the program. If you have a problem the first thing to do is...
READ THE MANUAL.
There is a "Hints and Tips" section which was written as a result of feedback
from other users. Other useful tips can be found in the printed upgrade
notes supplied with the program.
If you cannot solve the problem using the documentation supplied then contact
us by post or by phone. Make sure that you can quote your Impression serial
number and the version of Impression that you are using (shown in the startup
box and in the Info dialogue). Remember, the more precisely you can describe
the problem, the quicker we will be able to solve it for you.

Merge
This method commands Impression to start a merge operation in the specified document. Impression will reply to this command when all the merge data has been received from other servers and has been formatted into the document.
Print
This method commands Impression to print the specified document. The print operation uses whatever controls were set up in the "Print" and "Print setup" dialogues when it was called. A reply is sent when the print operation has been completed.
Edit [on|off]
This method enables an outside application to prevent an Impression document from being edited. This is useful when the document contains merged data which should not really be edited by the user.
* "Edit on" puts the document into its normal, editable state. It also
removes any merged data from the document.
* "Edit off" prevents the document from being altered in any way by the user. The mouse pointer will turn into a large red cross symbol when it is moved
over the document.
* "Edit" returns the state of the edit flag for the specified document. The
reply message will contain "on" if the document is editable, "off" if not.
ClearMerge
This method gets rid of the merge elements from the specified document, leaving any merged data intact. It should usually be called before "Edit on" because that command removes the merged data wherever it finds merge elements.
