PD/BootAll/!BootAll/!Help
This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

What does it do?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BootAll filer boots all the applications within the directory that is
dragged to the BootAll icon.
Boring legal bit
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'the software' refers to BootAll (!BootAll), and all associated
files / direcotries.
'the author' refers to Henry Morgan.
'supplier' refers to the person/organisation that supplied this copy of
BootAll.
'the user' refers to the individual, or company that are/is using OR
possesing a copy/some copies of the software.
'loss or damage' refers to any loss or damage - this includes loss of
business, profits, time, money and data etc.
It is up to the user to satisfy themself that the software is suitable for
the purpose to which it is used, therefore no responsibility can be held by
the author or the supplier for any loss or damage occuring due to the direct,
or indirect use or misuse of the software - even if that use was suggested
somewhere in the software. No warranty, written or implied is given.
The software may be copied or distributed, as long as all the original

Using it

Dead simple! Just double-click on the !BootAll icon, the icon will now
appear on the iconbar. Drag to this any dirctory, and all the applications
in the directory will be run (*ignoring* any that are in subdirectories
thereof). eg.
Dragging a directory called software will run the apps in software, but not
those in a subdirectory, say called "Graphics".
The !Boot file of all the applications will be run, as well as the
!Sprites[xx] file being iconsprited, if there is one. No error is raised if
there isn't a !Boot file or a !Sprites[xx] file.
The filer boot that BootRun does is a forceful one, that is to say the !Boot
file is run even if an application of the same name has already been seen
(the file doesn't boot an application if one of the same name has already
been seen).
CLI / Obeyfile use
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The features of BootAll can be used from the CLI / an obey file etc. The
command is simply:
Run [<path to app>.]!BootAll <path of dir>
<path of dir> : The full pathanme of the directory with the applications
to boot in.
This should *never* be the root directory.
<path to app> : The full pathanme of !BootAll. This is required if the
application isn't in the current directory, or in a
directory that is part of <run$path>. (If you don't
understand that then put the pathname before !BootAll)
eg.
Run ADFS::4.$.SuperApps.!BootAll ADFS::4.$.Comms
This would work if !BootAll was in the 'SuperApps' directory, that is in
the root directory of the hard disc, and would boot the applications that are
in the directory 'Comms', that is in the root directory of the hard disc.
If the directory can't be found for one reason or another a message will
be displayed on screen infroming you.
This usage is especially helpful for use in Boot files.
