G/show1

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

NR29 3HY		GAME SHOW   Feb. '95
			~~~~ ~~~~   ~~~~ ~~~
I've got two games for you this month, Alphabet Chaser and Block Blitz.
This version of Alphabet Chaser was written by me, although I copied the
idea from the game 'Letter Chaser' written by Neal-Cavalier Smith c. 1984.
All the sound effects were borrowed from the 'Sound Directory' in the last
issue of EUG.  Block Blitz, on the other hand, is not my own creation.
This is the original version as published in the Electron magazine, Elbug.
It has been republished with permission of BEEBUG Ltd.
ALPHABET CHASER
~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~
In this game, you have been landed with the task of trying to regain all
the letters of the alphabet, which have been stolen by some evil Prince
Black, in a vain attempt to stop anyone in the world being able to read or
write. There are two speed levels, speed one is the slowest. The game is
spread over ten levels which get gradually faster and faster.

BLOCK BLITZ
~~~~~ ~~~~~
You have been imprisoned by the evil Dr. X in a series of caverns,
which are now being filled with blocks aimed for you.  Fortunately, there
is a lifeline - if you can stand on the blocks at the level of the sides
of the cavern, you can escape.  Once you have escaped from one, though,
you get placed in an even deeper one until you can escape from all of
them.  Be warned: you can only climb up or down one block at a time.
A LITTLE PLEA
~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~
Has anyone out there got any machine code method of accessing the BASIC
RND function?  I have not been able to find one.  It would be of great use
in pure machine code games.  If you haven't, have you got a machine code
routine that will generate random numbers from a seed?  If you have
either, please send it to me.  Thankyou.
