CEEINFO
This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Cee-Vid Information CEE/VID Magazine formatter: The CEE/VID program will capture a series of rolling pages from the CEEFAX transmission, and format them for use by the VIDIEDITOR Teletext Screen Generation software. The program uses routines resident in the ATS ROM, and this must be present in your computer. Run the program, and enter the channel and page information at the prompts. The program will respond by scanning the broadcast from the selected channel until the specified page is found. It will then open a 20K file on your disc for storage of the sub-pages found. The received page is checked for sub-page number. When stored, its position in the file is dependent upon the sub-page number, and so all rolling pages with the same main page number will be stored in numerical sub-page order. Magazines are stored, as usual, in directory D. ADFS users should change the line that adds this directory letter, as VidiEd saves files in the current directory if ADFS is selected. A maximum of 20 sub-pages can be stored in a single magazine. If more than 20 sub-pages are found, they are stored in subsequent magazines. Magazine filenames are derrived from the main page number plus the sub-page number of the first page in the magazine. For example, sub-pages 1 to 20 of page 711 would be stored in file D.711s01. Sub-pages 21 to 40 would be saved in file D.711s21 etc. A maximum of 5 magazines can be created, allowing capture of up to 100 rolling sub-pages. If a received sub-page is numbered greater than 100, an error is generated, the program terminates, and the page is not saved. To capture such frames, use the "save page" facility from ATS. The system uses *SAVE to create a blank file into which it can put the pages as they are found. This is very much faster than using BPUT, but there is little control over the original contents of the file. Therefore, if the program is interrupted, the file may contain unwanted characters. For this reason, the error trap invokes a routine to tidy up the files so no unwanted characters appear. As each page is captured and stored, the sub-page reference found is printed on screen. this screen display constantly reflects the contents of the VidiEd files on the disc. - page 1 - Cee-Vid Information The program has no way of knowing how many sub-pages exist in a particular rolling sequence. It therefore scans the output for some time until it decides it has captured all the existing sub-pages. If you come to this decision first, you can break out of the program and tidy the files by pressing ESCAPE. Row zero of each page (the top row) will show the page number, sub-page number, date and time of capture. The date and time are taken from the transmitted TSDP. If the TSDP is not transmitted, these details cannot be found, and a "no date" message is given instead. Transmitted pages may contain packets 24 and/or 25. These rows cannot be displayed by most teletext receivers, and are not included in a standard VidiEd page. If they are transmitted with the received sub-page, refrence to this effect will be made in row zero of the saved page, but the contents of packets 24 and 25 will not be stored. Each page is checked for accuracy using the transmitted CRC. The result of this check is given on row zero. The page is NOT rejected if the CRC shows a reception error. If the page is a single static page, this will be saved in the same way as for rolling pages, but the magazine filename will not include a sub-page reference - i.e. if page 700 is requested, the VidiEd magazine created will be saved as D.700, and NOT as D.700s01. When a static page is found, the search for subsequent sub-pages is terminated and the magazine thus created will contain just one entry. The transmission protocols state that if a sub-page number of 0000 is received, a decoder can assume it is a "static" page and that no other sub-pages exist on that page. The program is not designed for use where sub-page coding is in full hexadecimal notation. As such pages are extremely rare, this is unlikely to be a problem. The program is designed specifically for use with CEEFAX broadcasts. The ORACLE transmissions are far more unreliable regarding the technical details of the page (sub-page numbering, CRC information, TSDP transmission etc.). However, it is quite probable that magazines can be successfully created using ORACLE as the source. - page 2 -
