SEVERAL readers complained of a small omission from last EUG's solution
to the Scott Adams teaser STRANGE ODYSSEY. As the important command DIG
was omitted from the "Methane snow storm" location, all adventurers were
left stranded in a location where the air was quickly going stale while
they desperately tried to work out what to do next!
The correct sequence for the location, which you only visit the once
is ...

... and there is also a bug in the actual GAME itself at this point
(just to confuse everyone even further!) where the text states "The
hound burrows off" when it does no such thing! You must therefore DROP
HOUND and WAKE HOUND again before joining up to the original solution
...

A less important error in this solution came right at the very end
where the GO SHIP in ...

... should be altered to GO DOOR.
As yet, no other bugs have been discovered in EUG #51 but Robert
Sprowson called to make sure any hardware manufacturers following his
article in EUG #50 were not befuddled by the third diagram (in those
called from the Utility Menu) which had "the OE lines muddled up and a
bus incorrected labelled A0-7". The new screen is present on this disk
in the U directory and should be copied over to EUG #50, although if you
bought your copy of EUG #50 after 14th June 2000 you will have received
the corrected version.
Finally, a bug which had remained hidden since EUG #45 has now been
rectified in the One Pass Printing of All Text Files procedure (called
from the Main Menu by pressing O). A VDU3 instruction hiding in this
code will have had the unfortunate effect of preventing any "one pass"
printing to a printer at all (unless its user knew enough to delete it)!
Usually found at line 430, this little bug will have been present on all
ADFS and DFS disks prior to 11th June 2000.
The master EUG disks have now been altered to amend both bugs so any
issues after this date will be hopefully bug-free. At the least, bugs do
generate feedback so they can eventually be corrected.
