L/Crane1

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Dear Gus,
many thanks for Eug 20,another highly enjoyable read. However I must say I
had one or two problems running some of the programs.
  PICTURES by Simon Piley
***********
When following the (D) option after displaying about half the images the
program stopped and displayed the message "Too many files open at 80".This
was because ADFS only allows 10 files to be open at once and the files in
DisSho were not closed before running Disho2.I sorted this by listing
DisSho and deleting line 100 CHAIN Disho2 and adding line 130 CLOSE#0 and
140 CHAIN Disho2 and then resaving it under the same name.
 RUBIKS GAME
*************
This just went straight to the end without running.I listed it and found
line 80 *LOAD DATA 900.There doesn't seem to be a DATA file to load so I
changed it to LOAD ammend 900.This at least displayed the cube screen, but
I'm still not sure.To find out a bit about it I read Rubik1 by using the
*TYPE command on AP2 in Mode3 but I'm sure some text was still missing.
 MASTERMIND
************
This produced a "No room" error.I have an Original Acorn Plus 3 (L-shaped)
which eats a lot of memory,so I had to load ADFS E00 into SWR and then it
was fine.

I'm not complaining I just thought my findings may help others. On
another theme I've had a bit of bother trying to get in touch with ACP
(formerly PRES) lately and have discovered they've moved.Their new address
is :-
                       ACP
                       PO BOX 6079

                       (01256 56666)
That's all for now, although I've enclosed details elsewhere for the
equipment review.

I HAVE BEEN INNUNDATED WITH POSITIVE COMMENTS ABOUT SIMON PILLEY'S
PICTURES. TRY USING MEMORY DECOMPRESSION IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY DONE SO.

RICHARD HAS WRITTEN SOME INFORMATION ON THE TWO GAMES WHICH YOU MENTIONED
SO HOPEFULLY ANY PROBLEMS YOU HAD CAN NOW BE SORTED.

THANKS FOR THE ADDRESS, I KNOW SEVERAL MEMBERS WILL BE INTERESTED.
