Examples/!Animals/cat

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

The wild cat looks like a large tabby cat, with a body length of 50-80 cm. and a shoulder height of 35-40 cm. It is always striped, with a thicker tail than the domestic cat, it also purrs, mews and growls. It is found mostly in the Scottish Highlands, but can be found further south in forests. The wild cat is nocturnal and builds a den among rocks or in a hollow tree. It can be quite useful on forestry land, keeping down small animals like voles and wood mice that damage trees. The female gives birth to up to four kittens in May. She is very fierce when she has young, and as the tom has been known to kill his own kittens, she will rear them on her own.
