This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

{S:X;X;0;3;The files in this directory give a solution to the Friday 13th problem as posed in PipeLine many moons ago.}
{S:X;X;0;4;The problem is to "prove" that the 13th of a month is more likely to be a Friday than any other particular day. }
{S:X;X;0;5;This curious fact relies on (i) the modern calendar working in a 400-year cycle and (ii) the number of days in 400 years happens to be exactly divisible by 7. This implies that if 13th August 1993 is a Friday then 13th August 2393 will also be a Friday. Further, the pattern of Friday 13ths in the 400 years from 13th August 1993 to 12th August 2393 will be exactly the same as the pattern of Friday 13ths in the following 400 years. (This ignores any changes to the calendar in the next 400 years....)}

While it is calculating you will see a date updating in cell D2 and the intermediate values in column E. When the function finishes its calculation the totals are returned to the calling sheet which displays them in column C. (These will be the same as the previous values in column C as the custom function gives the same answer every time it recalculates and the values are saved with the worksheet.)}
