04-04-88/L\INFO
This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

LOADER: ======= The program "Loader" is designed to automatically download your own selection of software from the current week's broadcasts on BBC2. To use the routine, ensure your adapter is turned on then, from BASIC, type: CHAIN "Loader". You will need to insert a blank disc if you envisage downloading a large quantity of software. After a few seconds, during which "Loader" is searching for, receiving and interpreting the catalogue file, you will be presented with a list of the currently available software titles. It is important to have studied CEEFAX page 711 before running the routine, in order to determine which files you would like to receive. Only the titles are displayed with this routine, which is not always sufficient information to determine whether the file is required or not! Initially, all the files available for the BBC micro are selected for downloading, but their status (i.e. whether you want them or not) can be toggled by typing in the two-digit file number, given alongside each title. If the title is in red, followed by "N", the file will be excluded from the list and not downloaded. If, however, the file is in cyan, followed by the letter "S" then it will be downloaded and saved. When you are happy the list reflects your requirements, press RETURN. After a few seconds, the first file will begin downloading to your disc. You can now leave the computer to get on with the downloading process without the need to return between files. The program has been designed to be compatible with the BBC Microcomputer System Teletext Adapter, both the older Acorn adapter with ATS and the new GIS adapter with ATS+. It should also work on other systems using ATS control software. It will cope with transmissions of up to 40 files in any one week. If more than this occur, the DIM statement near the start of the program may be altered to cope with more than this quantity, provided your computer has sufficient memory to cope with the increased space needed. (c) Jeremy Brayshaw. April 1988.
