This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

# Messages file for !DemConfig # Application name, as appearing as the window title and in the Tasks window app.name: Configure for Demon # Short-cuts to save space .T: This is the config.*: Fill in the fields with settings appropriate for you.|MThen click on the "Configure" button to do the work. config.modem: <.T> your type of modem. "Other" uses a default initialisation string of ATZ will be used.|MIf you need something else, edit !SLIPdial.Scripts.Demon after running the configuration. config.serial: <.T> the port used to connect the modem to the computer.|M"Internal" means the computer's built-in port; or you may be using a Dual Serial Port card. config.cable: This selects which block driver to use, depending on whether you have a Archimedes type cable or a "standard" PC type cable. config.speed: <.T> baud rate of your serial port to modem connection. Zero means use a default value and should normally work. config.hg: Select this if you want the option of dialling via a Mercury line. config.hgpin: Enter "131,xxxxxxxxxx" where xxxxxxxxxx is your 10-digit PIN, or "132" if using the newer 132 service.|MIgnore it if you don't have Mercury. config.pop1: Select your preferred Point of Presence to call - typically the one with the cheapest phone call.|MYou will also get a selection of other PoPs to choose from. config.node: This is your node name in the Demon domain.|ME.g. if "yourmc" then your site address is "yourmc.demon.co.uk". config.dempw: <.T> password needed when you connect to Demon.|MIt should be 5 to 8 characters long. config.ip_addr: <.T> IP address issued to you by Demon.|MDiscovered when you initially connect to Demon to set your password. config.getip: If you select this, then when you click on Configure, !DemConfig will run !SLIPdial to dial Demon, set your password (if not already done) and get your IP address.|MIt will then return to !DemConfig to complete the configuration. config.userid: This identifies the main user of the system.|MYour e-mail address will be of the form "jbloggs@yourmc.demon.co.uk".|MIf there is more than one user then you'll have to set them up by hand. config.realname: This is your real name.|MIt is put in parentheses in the "From:" field of outgoing mail and news. config.org: This field is put in the "Organization:" field of outgoing mail & news.|MYou can use it to tell people a bit more about yourself.|MIt's optional - leave it blank if you don't want to use it. buttons.0: Click this to abandon the program without doing any configuration. buttons.1: Click this to start the configuration process. buttons.*: Control area
