!AWJuly94/Goodies/Kevin/!Help

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Krazy Kevin - The Kunning Krook
                       -===============================-

In this game, you play Krazy Kevin, a jewel thief. You have managed to rob a jewellers, and you hid all your loot in some underground caverns, until the
heat was off and you could go back to collect them.

After a couple of months, you thought the police had stopped looking for
you, so you went back to collect your diamonds.... Which was when you
noticed some undercover police waiting for you. You quickly realised that
the only way to see the police in their disguises was to look for the
flashing blue sirens on their cars.

Not wanting to wait any longer before your holiday to Cyprus, you decide to
go ahead and collect them anyway, but can you avoid the police?

 Rules
 -----

- All diamonds must be collected (the blue things), when you have collected
all of them. Head for the 'END'marker.

- Rocks fall downwards, and can be used to squidge the police. You'll soon
find out (if it isn't obvious) what rocks fall off, and what they can
  balance on.

- Other bonuses are sprinkled in throughout the levels, they are emeralds
(like the diamonds only green) and gold orbs. You don't have to collect
all these, and sometimes it will be impossible to do so.

- Killing the police can be useful (ONLY in the game. Don't go out and knock
off your local cop and blame it on me, ok?), but you don't have to kill
them all to complete a level.

 Keys
 ----

At the menu you can press:

Space - This will start the game

P - Enter a password. Every level has a password which you can enter to
        jump straight to that level

K - Redefine the keys

H - View the hiscore table.

I - This shows you the objects that you will encounter and explains what
        they do.

Q - This returns you to the desktop.

By default the game keys are:

Z - Left

X - Right

'" - Up

/? - Down

P - Store position

Tab - Suicide

S - Sound on/off

You can redefine the keys from the menu, CTRL-<Key> combinations are allowed.
(eg. Ctrl-P for store position).

Store Position - This sets the position that you restart at if you die. It's useful if you go somewhere and block off the way back.
(If no other position is set, you restart where you first started the level)

General
-------

- All of the 10 levels are possible, I've played them all myself.

- Make use of the store position facility - you never know when you may block off the path from where you started.

- Thanks to Acorn for messing up the ARM3 detection code. If you want to
detect the presence of an ARM3, don't use the code given on page 4-194 of
the Risc OS 3 PRMs 'cos it doesn't work! You have to put a local error
handler around it because BASIC reports 'Unknown SWI'. Thanks to Graham
Stanley for pointing this out to me.

- Thanks go to - Dad, for buying a Sound Blaster Pro card for his PC which I
did the sampling on, Mum & Elena for some of the voice samples (sadly my
voice is very unclear when sampled), Stephen Hill for not thinking I'd
actually get around to writing this ;-).
