Demo/LabelStar/Readme
This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

This is a demonstration version of LabelStar produced
for the cover disc of Archimedes World Magazine.
The full version is available to Archimedes World readers
at the special discount price of �38.30 + VAT (�45 inc)
The normal retail price is �49.00 + VAT (�57.57).

Please note that although printing is fully functional,
any labels produced will be deliberately corrupted by
replacing common vowels with a hyphen ('-') character.
To run the demo, first de-compress the program onto your
hard disc or RamDisc, and run it in the usual way to
install it on the iconbar. Click MENU on the iconbar
icon and select Database.Addresses to display the built
in address database record card.
The Help option fom this menu will invoke the Acorn help
application, which is fully implemented in this program.
This card has a scrolling toolbar at the top, from which
all the features of the program are available. The tools
are invoked with the Select button, except where noted.
From left to right -
1 Browsing tool, move to the first address.
2 Browsing tool, move to next address.
3 Browsing tool, move to previous address.
Using the Adjust button reverses the action of 1, 2 & 3.
4 Data Entry Tool. Select this to enter a new address.
5 Save Tool. Save a new or modified address to disc.
6. Delete Tool. Deletes the current address.
Tools 5 and 6 do not work with this demo version.
7. Search tool, enter text in required field, hit Return.
A continued repeat search is made by simply clicking the
tool again with Select, to the end of the file.
8. Index Tool. Click Select to toggle a selected index on
and off. If no index is selected, the selection
menu will appear, or use the Menu button.
9. Filter Tool. This functions in the same manner as the index
tool. Addressed may be given selection categories by expanding
the window to full size using the window's toggle size icon
to reveal the selection buttons.
Both indexes and filters affect the action of the browsing
tools, and label printing.
10. Print tool. This displays the print dialogue box. First
select a label style unsing the Menu button where indicated.
When 'Single' is selected, the address displayed on the
record card will be printed. If 'multiple' is selected
consecutive addresses will be printed, from the current one,
and according to any index or filter selected.
You can also drop a CSV file onto the indicated icon to
print imported addresses, or drop a text file, perhaps
exported from !Edit or !Impression, etc, to print a single
label for a letter.
11. Design Tool. This permits both the label size, ans the
label sheet layout to be designed. Named label designs
may be saved, and will appear on the menu from the print
dialogue box.
12. Export Tool. With this selected you may select fields
and drag them to other applications, etc.
13. Import Tool. With this selected you may drag text from
other applications, etc, into individual fields on the card.
With this and the Data Entry Tool (4 above) you can import
a CSV file into the database.
14. Alter Tool. This allows the field sizes of the database to
be altered, and is not functional with this the demo version.
