Introduction
============
The purpose of this application is to take a list of names and
make either a random draw for a knockout competition or a list of
random teams. In addition, seedings may be added to the players
which will be taken into account when the draw is made.
Using The Application
=====================
When run in the usual way an icon is placed on the icon bar. A
blank list of names is opened by clicking on this icon. The main
window is split into two main parts:
At the top is a space for the seeded players.
At the bottom is a space for the non-seeded players.
In addition there is a writable icon at the top of the window for
the competition title, which will appear at the top of the
printed draw.
New names are added to the non-seeds from the main menu 'new
name' option which opens a window with a standard writable icon.
Type in the name and press return. The name will be added to the
non-seeded players. Please Note: the maximum is 128 players, seeded and
non-seeded.
To seed a player, select the player by clicking on their name. From the
'select' option on the main menu, move across to the 'select' sub-menu and
from there to the 'seed' option. Available places in the seeding will be
shown. Click on the required seeding position. NOTE: this option is not
available if you have more than one player selected or there are already 16
seeds.
To unseed one or more players, select the seeded players and choose
'un-seed' from the 'select' sub-menu. The names will be returned to the
unseeded players list.
Names can be deleted from the unseeded players list by selecting
and then choosing 'delete' from the 'selection' sub-menu.
Making A Competition Draw
=========================
Once 3 or more names are entered, either seeded or not, you can
make a draw. This is done from the 'draw' option on the main
menu. This leads to the 'Draw' sub-menu which has 4 options. If
no draw has been made, only the top option 'make' is available
leading to the 'Make Draw' sub-menu. This has up to 4 options:
'with seeding' - available if there are any seeded players. This
makes a draw with the seeded players in the
appropriate places.
'without' - makes a random draw ignoring any seedings (but
including the seeded players).
'doubles' - pairs all the players randomly and makes a
random draw.
'teams' - leads to the 'Teams' window in which you can
enter the number of players you want in each
team. Seeded players are shared as fairly as
possible.
When you make a draw a window is opened showing the draw with
seeded players shown in red. This can be closed in the usual
way.
If a draw already exists, then the 'make' option is not
available, but the other 3 are:
'show' - opens the window showing the draw.
'clear' - clears the draw.
'print' - prints the draw.
NOTE: if a knockout draw (i.e. NOT teams) contains more than 32
players the draw will be printed in 2 or 4 parts. You can choose
to print all of them or any one part.

This application has been tested for printing as much as I am
able. If you find you have problems printing, save the file as
a 'draw' file and print it from !Draw.

Saving A File
=============
A file (including the draw) can be saved from a standard save
window from the 'save' option on the main menu. Drag the icon in
the usual way to your directory viewer. In addition, any draw
can be saved as a draw file which can then be edited if you want.
If a knockout competition takes up more than one page, the draw
file save window will show a directory icon. Drag this in the
usual way. A directory will be created containing the parts of
the draw as draw files.
Loading A File
==============
If !CompDraw is not loaded you can simply click on the file icon
in the directory viewer. This will run CompDraw and load your
file.
If !CompDraw is already loaded, simply drag the file icon to either the
icon bar icon or the main window. If a file is already loaded you will be
given three options:
'LOAD' - replaces the existing file.
'MERGE' - merges the file with the existing file (i.e.adds the
names to the non-seeds).
'CANCEL' - self explanatory.
Clearing A File
===============
The 'clear' option on the main menu removes all names and the
title from the application.
