AUTOMATIC KEY SIGNATURES
The key signatures which appear at the start
of each system are automatic. They are adjust-
ed to suit the current clef, transposed for
transposing instruments and omitted from those
instruments which don�t usually have them
(e.g. Timpani). You needn�t concern yourself
with these automatic key signatures at all -
Sibelius knows exactly where and how to put
them in.
KEY CHANGES
The only key signatures you have to worry
about are the one at the start plus any key
changes which occur in the music.
To put a key change into the music or to set
the key at the start of your score:
� Go into the Symbols�Key change menu
� Either choose C maj/A min, or type the
number of sharps or flats you want within
Flats or Sharps and press Return
� Click Adjust at the start of a system, over
a barline or between two notes in the middle
of a bar.
The key change appears in all staves, adjusted
for each instrument�s clef and transposition.
Key changes can be copied and deleted. How-
ever, you can�t select the automatic key
signatures at the start of each system as
there is nothing useful you could do to them.
TRANSPOSING INSTRUMENTS
The key you specify is at concert pitch. If
the House style�Layout�Transposing score
option is on, key signatures are transposed
for transposing instruments.
