Manual/Page14
This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

The Application Manager p b D $ The Application Manager facilities offered by Larger are extensions of those offered by p b D $ z Pinboard. Once again, Larger provides all that Pinboard does, but with some extras. H D d # # 9 Iconising Windows > D " ' Sometimes, if the desktop is cluttered with too many windows, or if you are not going > D " ' to be using a window for a while, it can be advantageous to temporarily remove a > D " ' window, without losing the information contained within it. One simple way of doing > D " ' this is by iconising the window. Simply holding Shift while closing a window > D " ' w removes it from the users view, and adds an icon to the backdrop with the windows > D " ' V name in it. To reopen the window, simply double click the icon on the backdrop. D @ , To test this out, run Edit, and bring up a text window. Type your name and address D @ , into this, and then Shift-Close it. A new item should appear on the backdrop stacked D @ , with the applications representing the iconised file. If you Double click this icon the l D @ , window should reopen with the name and address intact. D D @ @& @& 5 " D ' | It is possible to access the menu belonging to an iconised task without actually " D ' [ uniconising the window to do it. To do this simply bring up a menu on the iconised \ " D ' 9 icon while holding the Shift key down. D $ , To try this, reiconise the Edit window containing your name and address. Now, while D $ , holding Shift, bring up a menu from the icon on the backdrop. The menu that appears D $ , is the one from Edit, rather than the one from Larger, and any options chosen from it t D $ , will behave as if they were chosen from the uniconised window. Standard RISC OS does not provide such D > ' a function, but Larger does. To hide an entire applications windows, simply point the D > ' mouse pointer at a window belonging to that application, and hit Shift-Tab. (This D > ' hotkey is configurable - See the Configuration window chapter for more details.) A D > ' q new icon will appear on the backdrop bearing the name of the application, and all its D > ' P windows will disappear. To reopen the windows, simply double click the icon on the @ D > ' . backdrop. D , To see this in action, open some more Edit windows, point at them with the mouse, D , and press Shift-Tab. The whole stack of windows will disappear, and be replaced by a D , new item on the backdrop. Double click this, and the windows will reappear. D D @& @& @ P p D J p / 5.
