This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

ADDITIONS TO SIBELIUS 7 VERSION 1.22 (since version 1.16 of the manual)
1. The Lines menu now contains dashed slurs.
2. The Lines menu now also has a thin vertical line, which is useful for
using as a barline or a stem (e.g. when adding a third voice).
3. You can beam over invisible rests, which makes the notation of some
piano music easier.
4. The Symbols->Transfers window now has a very small 'H' clef (at the
bottom) for putting on percussion stave lines. For instance, give a
percussion stave a blank clef, then put one or more of these tiny 'H's
on the lines you are going to use.
There is also a double-H clef symbol for similar purposes.
5. You can now drag text without double-clicking. Point to the text, press
Select and wait until it all goes red, then drag as normal.
6. Underlay positioning has been improved:
When you choose Underlay off the menu and position it, it is given a
default height.
Thereafter the height of underlay is maintained when you use space and
hyphen to advance a syllable, and when you copy the caret with Adjust.
Triple-clicking on a syllable selects it and all syllables to the right
of it at the same height, so you can drag them up and down.
(Hint: to copy a line of underlay, copy the bars as a passage, then
change the notes.)
(Hint: if you want to adjust the vertical position of a passage of
underlay, beware that subsequent reformatting may shift some of the bars
around and so produce lines of underlay which aren't lined up. It's best
to correct the vertical positioning of underlay when the whole score is
in and everything else is correctly spaced; then there is no danger of
reformatting.)
7. Beaming between staves has been considerably simplified: if you select
the first note of a group of quavers, semiquavers etc. and press Delete,
the beam will be deleted, leaving the stems extending up to where it was.
This allows you to draw an entire beam between two staves (using the
beam-shaped line) without having to join together two beams already
there.
The Delete key also works on isolated notes to deleting a single curved
'hook'. You can reinstate a beam by typing any of the F1 beam keys.

8. The music fonts are now called 'OpusII Music' and 'OpusII Text' (replacing
the obsolete Opus fonts).Install them in exactly the same way as
installing the Opus fonts is described in the manual.
(If you already have a copy of the old Opus fonts, you can delete them
UNLESS you have any old Draw files, such as music exported into word
processor documents, which you will want to reuse. If you haven't, you can
delete the old fonts by holding down Shift while double-clicking on your
own !Fonts. This will reveal your font directories: delete the one called
Opus in the standard way.)
9. You can now use the Shift-F12 key on rests to make them cue-sized.
10. Small staves have been implemented more fully, in that rests,
articulation marks, grace notes, clefs and the thickness of lines are all
correctly reduced in size. This will be extended in due course to cover
text and transfers.
11. The transfers window now contains rests and tails for quavers etc.

HOUSE STYLES
1. A new option 'House style->General->Extend irrational brackets' makes
brackets overshoot the last note of an irrational if it is longer than
the irrational's unit length (e.g. for a 'scotch snap' in a triplet).

2. There is a new House style->Text menu, containing two new options:
Show lyric lines: if you switch this off, lyric lines on underlay
disappear.
Wide underlay hyphens: makes underlay hyphens further apart than usual.

3. The House style->General menu contains a new option:
Lock staves: if you switch this on, staves cannot be dragged up or down.

4. A new option 'House style->Instruments->Readout in corner' shows the
current instrument name at the bottom left of the screen. It works
whatever object is selected, but reads '(System)' for system markings
such as titles.
If an instrument has several staves, these are called (for instance)
'Piano (a)', 'Piano (b)', etc. This helps you to preserve continuity
between staves running from one system to the next.

5. A new option ' House style->Instruments->Show empty staves' makes new bar
rests added to your score appear in every stave (not just in the top one
at first). You will have to switch the option on when starting new scores
because it is off by default. (This is because some parts of the manual
assume it works in the old way.)

6. There is a new option 'House style->Bar numbers->Every bar'. This is
apparently required for handbell music, but is also useful for music
examples. You may want to use it temporarily to keep track of where you
are while typing in big scores.
7. There are new options 'House style->Rehearsal marks->24 in a box' (etc.),
to allow you smaller rehearsal marks for chamber music and instrumental
parts. There are now also rehearsal marks without a box. When extracting
parts from a full score the rehearsal marks will be automatically switched
to 14 point size for you.
