Dear Gus, I am enclosing my cheque for the next 6 issues and would like to say how much I enjoy receiving it. I am 77 years of age and became interested in the "Elk" after buying one complete with data recorder and software from a car boot sale for #10. I have since added a Plus One, a Plus 3 and an Epsom FX80+ Printer. I am very much a beginner and am trying my hand with the View word processing cartridge. I have found that when printing with the view cartridge the paper rolls on for about 9 inches after printing has ceased. Can anyone tell me what I am doing (or not doing) wrong? Yours sincerely, Alva Parrott NOW I MAY BE WRONG HERE ALVA BUT I DO KNOW THAT THE PAPER WILL TEND TO BE ROLLED THROUGH AT THE END OF PRINTING TO A POINT WHERE THE PRINTER THINKS THE END OF THE PAGE OR THE PERFORATIONS SHOULD BE. THIS IS USUALLY SET BY A SWITCH INSIDE THE PRINTER TO EITHER 11 OR 12 INCH PAPER. ALSO VIEW WAS WRITTEN TO EMULATE THE WORDPROCESSORS USED COMMERCIALLY AT THE TIME WHICH IN TURN WERE WRITTEN TO COMFORM WITH OFFICE FASHIONS OF THE TIME. IN THE LATE SEVENTIES EARLY EIGHTIES SO CALLED FOOTERS WERE VERY POPULAR THESE TENDED TO HAVE INFORMATION ABOUT THE IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN THE COMPANY AND SO ON. VIEW ALLOWS YOU TO SET THIS TO ZERO WITH THE STORED COMMAND FM. THIS IS IN THE VIEW MANUAL. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A COPY THEN I MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU IF YOU CONTACT ME HERE.
