Thankyou for your letter re my problems with the
mountains of manuals and their jargon.
If you remember I was having problems digesting
allthe information aquired with the hardware when I bought
it. I havedecided to press on regardless with programming.
And to surmountproblems if and when they occur. Rather than
attempt to learnit all, before the keyboard is touched.
As you may remember. The purpose of purchasing
the E1k(With all its accompanying soft/hardware), was to
be compatiblewith my childrens' school computer studies. And
with that in mind Itentatively, contacted various suppliers
of software. Tentatively,because I did not expect much.
I'm happy to report that support for the E1K is
aliveand tremendous. Though some of it is rather prohibitive.
Costbeing the main reason.
My first purchase was a disk-Swift Softwares'
Keyword (c), a thesaurus / dictionary which has enabled
me tofinish crosswords and write letters without repeating
myself. Thenext was a cartridge, ACORNSOFT- Tree of
Knowledge, which was verydisappointing. The graphics being
almost non-existant.
Unfortunately, my next purchase was another E1K
due tosome over-exhuberant play on Tetron. (The return key
passing away)!So this has curtailed further forays into the
soft'market for now.
However, undaunted I've ploughed/played on and
happilyam able to submit my first serious effort at
programming. I hope itis of use. I've called it TimesTables
and aimed it at the u 7's .(My oldest child being 7 and
just beginning his tables). ThereforeI've limited it (From
x2 upto x5) but it can be easily adapted oncethey've been
mastered. Type "Timestbles" to resurrect from disk.
I look forward to your guide on ADFS as its a
mysterythus far and to receiving my first issue of EUG.
Hopefully by the time Aprils' issue comes out I may have
something else of value tosubmit.
