The osprey has a body length of 50-60 cm. It has long gull like wings and can be found around lakes, rivers and coasts. The female lays 3 white blotched eggs between April and August in a nest known as an eyrie, made of branches, reeds and heather. It dives into water to catch fish, and also feeds on mice and birds. In this country we are very lucky to have breeding ospreys, because between 1916 and 1954 there were none at all.
