TEXT STYLES
Each text style specifies the following:
� the text font and size
� where the text can appear
� whether the text is a stave marking or a
system marking
� which special music characters can be used
Each piece of text you type is in a single
style. If you need to mix styles you should
use more than one piece of text.
CREATING TEXT
The Players and Underlay styles create text in
a special way; but to create a piece of text
using one of the normal styles:
� Go into the Text menu and choose one of the
styles
� Click Adjust where you want the text to go.
For most styles, this will be the left-hand
side of the text.
� The caret will appear, and you can start
typing. Return starts a new piece of text
down a line. See Keypresses for other
special keys.
� When you have finished typing in text you
can get rid of the caret by selecting
another object or typing Ctrl-Z
There are five quicker ways to create text:
� Ctrl-E and Ctrl-T choose the Expression and
Technique�12 styles.
� Clicking Menu while editing text produces
a menu of useful words; choosing one types
it in for you. (See manual for subtleties.)
� Instead of choosing the top item of a menu
you can choose the menu name itself: to get
the Text�Tempo�14 you can choose just Text�
Tempo.
� You can 'copy' the caret itself to start a
new piece of text. Find some text on the
screen which is in the style you require,
click Select on it to make the caret appear,
then click Adjust somewhere else to start
some new text in the same style.
� Since some pieces of text (e.g. dynamics)
are used many times, you can just create
them once and copy them around the score.
MODIFYING TEXT
To change some existing text, click Select on
it and the caret will reappear for you to type
at. Text is edited in just the same way as it
is typed in.
DRAGGING TEXT
Double-click Select on the text (to select all
of it) and drag.
COPYING TEXT
Double-click Select on the text (to select all
of it) and copy it with Adjust. If House
style�General�Align when copying is on, text
copied roughly in a rom or column will snap
into exact alignment with the original.
DELETING TEXT
Either delete it character by character, or
double-click on the text (to select it all)
and press Delete.
Player text can be deleted by single-clicking
and pressing Delete.
