This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Dear Gus, Enclosed is the conclusion of the Exile saga, hope it enables a few moremembers to complete it. As Richard Dimond's excellent Beleagured Castle (issue 17) got a mention in the February issue, may I offer the following comments. After a few deals I have solved this many times and on several occasionscompleted consecutive deals. I find that rather than trying to build thesuits up equally, it is better to try to empty a stack, when a second or third stack is cleared, the cards can then be moved around at will. Re. Richards comments on improvements to the program, I find that soundeffects are unnecessary, so those who have just the basic Electron willincrease its speed a bit by deleting the sound statement, ( line 33O ). As the game may involve several redeals in order to get a playable hand, and as you have to think several moves ahead, a welcome improvement ( ifanyone can come up with it ), would be a undo facility of the last halfdozen moves. Re. the Servalan screen, also issue 17, I loaded this into Mode1 and notonly did it look better in colour but also definition. I enclose a basicprogram which loads a bit of code which I did not write, but found it onan old disc (like your Desdot) , it then displays the screen in ModeO asissue 17, in Mode1, and finally to ModeO. It then runs the code twice toimprove the definition. I think the Desdot routine and also the the last few issues, justify thepublishing of different title screens. It provides members with a chanceto display their creations, and perhaps will inspire others. John McHugh, Washington, Tyne & Wear. THANKS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT TO THE SERVLAN PICTURE. IT REALLY IS GOOD. REMEMBER A WHILE AGO I SAID THAT SOMETIMES THE OBVIOUS TIPS DON'T OCCUR TO EVERYONE? WELL I JUST DIDN'T THINK ABOUT TRYING SIMON PILLEY'S SCREENS IN MODE 1. THERE YOU GO. I HOPE YOU DON'T MIND BUT RATHER THAN REPEATING SERVELAN AND DESITE MY ADMIRATION FOR THAT CHARACTER I'LL PUT A DIFFERENT SCREEN FROM SIMON'S COLLECTION WITH YOUR PROGRAM. IT'S IN THE PROGRAMS MENU BY THE WAY. INCIDENTLY I HAVE RECENTLY MANAGED TO GET A BBC B WORKING BUT AS YET ONLY IN MODE 7. I RAN OUR TITLE SCREEN FROM EUG18 AND ALTHOUGH I COULDN'T SEE IT BECAUSE OTHER MODES DONT WORK I DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS SOUND IN THIS ROUTINE ON THE BEEB. ALSO AFTER SOME SEARCHING I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS ROUTINE CAME FROM AN OLD ISSUE OF BEEBUG, I THINK FROM 1984.
