This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

About this manual ================= This is HardBack release 1.01, manual release 1.01 Last updated 16th September 1995 This manual is divided into several sections: Introduction What HardBack does, and installation instructions. HardBack in use An in-depth guide to all the features provided by HardBack. The two programs, Backup and Restore will be covered separately, since they differ substantially in their operation. Other matters Points which are relevant to both programs, some of a more general nature. Appendix A: Information on how to register to receive the full version of HardBack. B: Copyright information etc. This manual assumes you are fairly familiar with the desktop of the Acorn, and that you know about choosing menu options, dragging icons etc. If you are not familiar with this read the Welcome Guide and User Guide supplied with your computer first. This manual is stored in two formats, text and Impression. The text versions are taken directly from the Impression copy so please ignore any references to diagrams etc. If you really want to see the diagrams, Shift-double click on the Impression file icon and rummage around. The Impression file is in Impression Style format, so should be readable by Style, Publisher and Publisher Plus but not Junior, or Impresion II. Users of these two packages will have to use the text version. If you are using Edit to read this text you should use Expand Tabs to align it properly. All the screenshots in this manual have been taken from Risc OS 3.5 in high resolution mode 27. In low resolution modes, and on other versions of Risc OS, especially version 2, some of the windows may look slightly different. This has no effect on how HardBack works.
