This is basically another version of hangman,with
the opponent being 'gunged' rather than hung. There
is also suplied with this version a second dictionary
of computer terms. Be careful though, they not all
apply to the Acorn world.
The master dictionary contains 2000 words and the
computer dictionary around 170. If you can think of any
more add them yourself using the editor application
within !gloop.editor.
Each word will only appear once in each game unless you
reload the dictionary.
How to play
============
Double click as normal.The title screen contains 5 selectable
icons,Instructions,Play level 1,Play level 2,Male,female.
Instructions
==============
This is an abreviated version of this file giving just the main
points on how to use the main game.
Input in the main game is either via the keyboard or mouse using
the on screen keyboard. All keypresses, mouse clicks are reflected
on screen.
Play Level x
==============
Choose which level to play at.Note clicking either icon will
take you into the main game.
Level 1 the easy ? level.
After choosing a letter on the screen keyboard,the letter will
remain depressed and cannot be selected again.
Points scored 2 for a correct guess -1 for a wrong try.
You start with five lives and lose one for each wrong guess.
Level 2 the hard level
Play is the same as level one with the exception that the keys
are reset each time and can be selected any number of times.
Points scored 4 for a correct guess -3 for a wrong try.
You have only three lives.
Male/Female
=============
Choose whether you want a male/female graphic to represent you
in your gunge tank.
The Game Menu
===============
Exit.
Quit the game and return to the desktop.
Load.
Load one of eight dictionaries (Two presently defined).
Note the Master dictionary contains additional data required
on start up and should not be renamed. The editor will refuse
to load the dictionary.
Click select to load a file menu to abandon load.
Sound.
Control the sound system. You can raise/lower the volume by
clicking on the arrows in the window. You also have the option
to turn all sound effects on/off.
Resign.
Quit the round but lose 30 points.
Guess.
If you think you know the word try a guess for some bonus points.
Guess incorrectly and you lose a life.
Play.
Click here to start each round.
Note whilst play is depressed only sound/resign and guess can be
used. Exit/editor and load can only be used within rounds.
The Editor.
=============
This editor is for creating your own dictionaries. Before starting
on your own dictionary, it is a good idea to have a list of words
on paper. The minimum sized dictionary should be 50 words, the
maximum 2000 (thats a lot of typing).
The editor can check for duplicate words but will not be able to
check your typing. The editor will also validate the word length
max 12 characters,minimum 4.
The master menu
=================
Load.
Load a file for editing(not the Master dictionary),or create a new
dictionary. A window will open.Select the dictionary that you want to
edit/create. The mouse buttons have the following effect:-
Select... load an existing dictionary, prompt for new details
if you try to load a blank dictionary.
Menu ... abandon the operation.
Adjust... Erase the file and put a blank dictioary in its
place.(NOTE you will be requested to confirm this)
Save.
Save a dictionary. Note you do not have to save the dictionary to the
same file as you loaded it from. In this way you could have two copies
of the same dictionary whilst you are editing it.
Note the file names are internal names used by the editor and !Gloop.
the Risc OS filer window will always show the names as 'User_x'
Edit.
Takes you two the second menu.
Quit.
Quits the editor and returns you to !Gloop
Helpon/off.
The editor has a simple interactive help system. This gives you all of
the basic information you need to create/edit a dictionary. It can be
toggled on/off at any time.
The Edit Menu
===============
Add.
Add new words to an existing dictionary.
Amend.
This allows you to amend all aspects of the dictionary. The function
is controlled from the edit sub menu. See below.
Check.
After creating your dictionary, use this function to automatically look
for duplicated words. Remember each word will only be used once each game.
Quit.
Return to the main menu.
Help on/off.
As above.

The descriptions run from left to right.
Single arrows.
Scroll backwards/forwards through the dictionary one word at a time.
Double arrows.
Scroll backwards/forwards through the dictionary five words at a time.
Delete.
Delete the highlighted word(always the middle word).The editor will
check that you want to delete the word.
Edit.
Edit the highlighted word.This would only need to be used to change a
misspelt word.
Menu.
Return to the main edit menu.
Title.
Select if you wish to change your dictionaries title.
Remember after editing to resave your file.
