Instructions for use: (versions 3.00 and above)

Note: Select refers to the left mouse button, Menu refers to the middle
button and Adjust refers to the right button.
Install !Guardian on the icon bar by double-clicking 'select' on !Guardian3.
To scan a disc for viruses;
Step a) Call up !Guardian's main menu by pressing Menu on the mouse,
over the !Guardian icon.
b) Move the mouse across, over the little arrow to the right of
the "Scan Disc" option. This will show you a sub-menu.
i) Moving over the "Filer" option allows you to select a
filing system to scan.
You can choose from ADFS, SCSI, IDEFS, NET and CDFS.
ii) Moving over the "Drive No." option lets you select which
drive you wish to scan - This will usually be 4 (for a
hard disc) or 0 (for a floppy disc)
N.B. The Auto Scan option lets you type in a directory
name on which to scan automatically everytime !Guardian
is loaded. It will automatically zap any known viruses
without any user intervention. This option is useful to
use on a Network, so that you can scan a user directory
each time the system is booted up.
c) Having set the filer and drive number of the disc you want to
scan, click Select on "Start Scan".
d) The computer will now scan the required disc. If a virus is
found, the computer will bleep and you should follow on screen
instructions.
N.B. Sometimes the computer will bleep and inform you that
something "Looks Suspicious". This usually means that a line has
been found that could be loading something. 99 times out of 100
this can be ignored by clicking select on "Cancel", but advanced
users may like to examine the relevant file by using !Edit.
e) Setting the "Auto Zap" option from the "Scan Disc" sub-menu
(see above) will scan a disc without issuing any prompts,
automatically deleting any known viruses. This option is handy
to set if you are a newcomer or novice to the Archimedes.
f) Pressing ESCAPE at any time will abort the scan.
g) If the 'bleep' sounds become annoying (especially if lots of
virus infections are found) you can toggle all sounds on and off
by clicking Select on "Sound" from the main menu.
h) If you repeatedly want to use !Guardian with the same options
set, click Select over "Save Options".
N.B. You will need to do this if using the "Auto Scan" (see
above) option on a Network.
