This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

A five letter word is hidden behind a grid of 50 tiles. 48 of the tiles cover pictures, and the other two cover wildcards. You must match two pictures to reveal parts of the word. You then have 10 seconds to guess what the word is. The game ends when the word has been guessed, or less than four tiles are left. If the word is guessed then a bonus is also awarded. @ \63One/Two player game: \49In the one player game, you have to guess a randomly selected computer word. In the two player game, each player has his own word to guess. This can be a randomly selected computer word or a word entered by your opponent. Each player takes it in turn to match pairs on the grid. The turn ends when the chosen pictures don't match or the word is guessed. The pointer colour and a highlighted sideways \03 \49or \48 \49indicates who's turn it is. @ While playing the game, it is possible to gain extra points with the \63'bonus shape`\49. This shape is redefinable by the user. When pictures are matched by a player, those tiles then turn the colour of the player who won them (\03red \49for \03\49, \48blue \49for \48\49). If you can manage to form the bonus shape with the tiles you've won, you then get a bonus. The size of the bonus depends on the size of the shape. Once tiles have been used to make a shape, they cannot be used to create another. @ \63Words: \49A word can be scrambled (anagram) or normal, and a maximum of five letters long. You can load a new set of words by clicking on \15LOAD NEW WORDS\49. Find out more info on the word files by reading the !Help file in the !WordPairs directory. @ \63Skill level: \49There are five skill levels in\63\49. Each skill level has a different number of pictures, making it easier or more difficult to match pairs. The first four skill levels also have the option of choosing from the 24 pictures. @ \63Tune controls: \49If you have added tunes to this game, you can choose a new one by clicking on a new number (\21\49) or you can turn the music off completely by clicking on \21\49. The internal speaker can be toggled on and off by clicking on the \21 \49at the top right of the menu (\12 \49=speaker on \21 \49=speaker off). @ \63High score table: \49The high score table is automatically saved to disc every time it has a new entry. This can be prevented by write-protecting the disc. The table can be cleared by holding down \21\49 and then pressing \21\49 from the menu. @ For more information, read the \63!Help\49 file in the \63!WordPairs\49 Directory. @ \12 Click on \15START GAME\12 to play! |3[ @ \03T\12H\15E \48E\51N\60D |3[ @ @
