!Upgrade/Upgrades/Upgrades/!World/!!Readme

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

           Notes for using
Around The World In 80 Days
        on StrongARM Machines
========================================

Under certain circumstances this program
crashes on StrongARM machines. The new
version of RISC OS that comes with the
StrongARM also supports 16 bit sound. If
you have the 16 bit sound option turned
on but your hardware does not have 16 bit
sound capability then this program will
crash on the title screen.

The cure for this problem is to turn off
16 bit sound by double clicking on !Boot
on your hard disc, and clicking on the
sound icon (the bell). Turn off the '16 bit'
tick, then SHUTDOWN and restart your
computer.

Q. How do I know if my machine has 16 bit
   sound hardware?
A. Run !Boot and turn '16 bit' sound on.
   Shutdown and restart the computer.
Run !Boot again and go into the sound
   screen.

If you hear a sound when you adjust the
volume settings, then you have 16 bit
   sound hardware.

If you hear no sound, then you don't have
the necessary hardware and should turn off
the '16 bit' option and restart your computer.
