This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Troubleshooting: What to do if you have problems with MovieFS

First, make sure you install MovieFS correctly by following the instructions
in the 'Install' file. If you still have problems, check the entries below...
What is !ARMovie?
!ARMovie is the central application in Acorns Replay system. If you
have a RISC PC, it will normally be in !Boot.Resources.
When I run a film I get the message "File ...!ARMovie.Decomp6xx not found"
You either haven't installed the directories from the Codecs
directory into !ARMovie, or the computer is using a different
copy of ARMovie. If you haven't installed the codecs, then
instructions on this are in the 'Install' file. Otherwise
double click the copy of !ARMovie that you copied the directories
into and try again.
You should have a whole series of directories called
!ARMovie.Decomp600, !ARMovie.Decomp601 etc. If you do not
then the installation has not worked properly.
When I run a film I get the message "Sound playback code xxxxx not found"
This will only occur if you have a 16 bit sound card fitted (or
have a RISC PC 700). To solve this find a directory called "Sound16"
within !ARMovie. This could be !ARMovie.MovingLine.Sound16, or
!ARMovie.Sound16, or even somewhere different. Now copy the
directory called !ARMovie.MovingLine.xxxxx (where xxxxx is as given
in the error), into the Sound16 directory you called earlier. This
should solve your problem.
We would supply MovieFS set up like this by default, but we can't
as the Sound16 directory is in different places in different versions
of Replay.
