This Program is shareware. You may freely copy this program but you must register it within 30 days if you intend to use it. When you register you will receive a copy of the new version. This has some extra screen savers and does not keep asking you to register as you would have registered the new copy. There is also a Mac style Trash can utility.

How to use Toolkit
������������������
Double click on the !ToolKit icon in the directory viewer to run the programme.
If you get the error message "Scrap directory cannot be found" then the filer has not seen !Scrap. This can be found on the applications disk that came with your Acorn computer.
If you get the error message "ToolKit Already Running" then you are trying to run the programme twice
If the programme loads successfully the copy right message will appear.
The tools can be accessed in 5 ways.
To access the file manager tool drag a file, directory, or application to the ToolKit icon on the icon bar.
Clicking the select mouse button on the ToolKit icon opens the desk window showing the time. This has a some icons, if you click the select mouse button on them, it opens other windows with the relevant tools in them.
If you click the middle button on the ToolKit icon on the icon bar or in the desk window then this brings up a menu. In the menu there are the list of different tools. Click on one of these to select the tools. If you go across from the tools item another menu appears with some more tools in it.
By holding down the right ALT key and clicking the select mouse button you can also open the desk window.
If you click the adjust mouse button on the ToolKit icon on the icon bar then this brings up the mode select tool.
The tools are described below.
Setup
�����
When the programme quits it saves the status of this window so that the options can be set when the programme is run.
If "check ADFS::0 for !Boot" is selected then when the programme is run it checks to see if there is a disk in drive 0 with a !Boot file and if so it is run. This might be useful to hard disc users if they put the programme on the hard disc and boot it up when the computer starts, it can be used to run programmes that usually need a shift break without having to reconfigur the computer.
If "Amiga Style bootup" is selected the computer boots up with a disk on the front of the computer like an Amiga.
If "Solid sprite drag" is selected then when you drag files to save them they will be solid.
If "Pointer Wrap" is selected then the pointer will wrap around the screen.
If "Pointer Disappear" is selected and the pointer is not moved for a period of time set in time icon then the pointer will disappear.
If "Screen Saver On / Off" is selected the a screen saver will start after a time limit set in the time icon. To select a new screen saver click select on the icon to the right of the screen saver name. To test this screen saver click select on the "Test" icon.
You can turn the icon bar of so that once you have set things up like screen savers how you want them you can make the Toolkit icon on the icon bar disappear so that your icon bar does not become cluttered.
Convert
�������
This converts numbers to and from Hex, Binary, Decimal and Octal. This could be useful to computer programmers. Click on the round icon next to the icon with the type of number system that you want to convert from. Then enter the number into the icon to the right of the round icon. Now click on convert to convert the numbers.
Shell
�����
This executes * commands from the desktop. Type the command into the white icon then click on execute icon to execute the command. If you click on recall it recalls the last command that was executed.
Mode Select
�����������
This is a quick an easy way of selecting screen modes. Click on the icon containing the mode number that you want. To change the mode numbers in the icons click the adjust mouse button on the icon you want to change and type the new mode number in.
Clock

To set a new time enter the new time into the 3 icons to the right of the time label. It is a 24 hour clock in the format of "hh mm ss". To set the date enter the date in the date icon. To set the month click on the icon to the right of the month to select a month. To set the year enter the year into the icon to the right of the year label. Once the new time and date has been set up click on the set time and set date icons to set the time and date.
Tools menu

These tools can be found in the tools menu that can be accessed from the main ToolKit menu.
Click on "Core Fix" to fix any file core in use problems
Click on "Null" to open the Null: filer window. If you hold down shift and drag a file to this window then the file is deleted.
Click on "Printer" to open the Printer: filer window. Any files dragged to this window will be printed.
Click on "Char Set" to load the char set programme from ROM.
Click on "Redraw" to redraw the screen.
File Manger
�����������
This tool is used by dragging a file to the icon on the icon bar.
Clicking on "Update" will update any changes made to the file. If you Click on "Cancel" then no changes are made to the file. If you click on the "Edit" icon then the File Manager will try and send the file to the a text editor. Clicking on "Run" will run the file and clicking on "Delete" will delete the file.
If the filename or file path is changed then the file will be renamed to the new path and filename.
Clicking on the arrows either side of the set type icon change the set type of the file. The icon to the right of these brings up a menu were the more popular set types can be selected.
The Access details of the file can be set by the icon opposite the type of access you want to set.
Information is displayed on the file in the Size, Execute and Load icons. Load is the load address of the file. Execute is the execute address for the programme. Size is the length of the programme in bytes.
It is nearly the same for directories and applications, some of the tools will not be available.
Click on the "Extra" icon brings up some extra tools you can only use the tools if your file is of the right filetype.

Sprites (FF9)
If the file is a sprite file you are able to click on the "Icon Sprites" and "Tool Sprites" icons. This sets the sprites to become RiscOS tool sprites or adds the file to the Icon Sprites pool. "Screen Load" displays the sprite to the screen. Press any key to return to the desktop.
Dos (FE4)
Clicking on the icon "Dos to Text" will convert and MS-Dos text file to an Arc text file.
Text (FFF)
Clicking on the icon "Text to Dos" converts an Arc text file to an MS-Dos text file.
The lower case and upper case icons convert an Arc text file to lower case or upper case.
