Dear Gus,
Many thanks for the latest issue of the EUG disc,
which was most enjoyable - well done. I'm writing regarding your
mention of supplying a tape version for those poor souls without a disc
drive. I was wondering what duration of tape would be needed and as you
would probably only get 90 min types from the usual sources, would this be
too long and thus a waste. I enclose a little leaflet from Profession
Magnetics Ltd from whence I obtained my bulk supplies of 10, 15, 20, 30
etc, etc. types about a hundred years ago. I was in contact with them
recently and, although they no longer keep them on the shelf, they would
still supply tapes, boxes, labels and cards to order. More than likely
at a better rate than the high street.
On the same subject of supplies - and perhaps
useful to other members - is the firm of:-

They do a lot of new and 2nd hand Beeb stuff and
some of it applies to the Elk, or is useable with the Elk. I recently
got the part 1 and part 2 user guides for the Master @ `6 each, so they
are quite reasonable.

NOW FROM THE DATE IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS LETTER WAS SENT SOME TIME
AGO. I HAVE A PROBLEM, I DON'T ACTUALLY REMEMBER IT BUT I MAY HAVE
PUBLISHED IT SO IF IT IS A REPEAT SORRY.
ON THE SUBJECT OF TAPE I TRIED THIS FOR A WHILE BUT HAD A NUMBER OF RETURNS
I CHECKED WITH A FRIEND OF INE AND DISCOVERED THAT APPARENTLY THE SOFTWARE
HOUSES USED SPECIAL TAPE RECORDERS WHICH RECORDED AN EXTRA WIDE TRACK ON
THE TAPE SURFACE SO THAT ALMOST ANY TAPE PLAYER COULD READ IT. NOW I DON'T
HAVE ONE OF THESE AND AS IT HAPPENS I DON'T HAVE ANY TAPE SUBSCRIBERS
EITHER.
IT WAS A GOOD EXPERIMENT AND I LEARNED A LOT BUT IT WASN'T TO BE.
THE ADDRESS IS VERY USEFUL. I HAVE WRITTEN A BIT ABOUT THEN IN THE SHOPPING
