This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

*********************************** * SNOOZE - (c) B.Moseley Jan 1990 * *********************************** Snooze is a handy little program which permits your Archimedes to 'go to sleep' if it has been left unattended - untouched for an amount of time. It is a RISC OS application which installs itself on the icon bar. Once loaded, clicking on the icon, moving the mouse pointer to the bottom left corner of the screen, or leaving the micro for an alterable period of time will all cause the desktop screen to clear and letter Z's to drift around. This prevents unnecessary strain on the monitor phosphor dots which otherwise might be dammaged - burn out. To wake the machine up again, it is only necessary to move the mouse, press a key or a mouse button. The desktop screen then reappears exactly as it was left. The whole program is very simple to use - the only option the time delay before going to sleep, is set by a standard pop-up menu. Also, since no sprite memory is used to store the screen because the WIMP is used for the redrawing, valuable memory space is saved. So, now you can leave your Archimedes to its own devices while you go and make that much needed cup of coffee / feed the dog, without cause for concern! A Final note is that whilst the machine is asleep, the Z's may be exchanged for 3D swinging pendulums. This is done by pressing one of the <ALT> keys. Happy dreaming!
