Miscellany/Add_Sprite/!AddSprite/!Help

This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.

Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

This simple utility sits on the icon bar, ready to accept sprite files to add to the wimp sprite pool. For example it is useful when designing a set of sprites (for an application or customised desktop appearance), where it would bbe useful to see consequetive versions of your creations in situ, while being designed.

If the file being transferred is an application, its !Sprites (or !Sprites22 where appropriate) is used instead. Also, files may be transferred directly (from Paint, for example), as long a a scrap directory is set - Floppy users may have to insert a different disc to do so though.

Of course, it's complete function is to perform *IconSprites <Filename>, but where the filename is long or the fingers not adept - AddSprite is useful. Enterprising programmers could change the Oscli command to perform some other function (make CSD or load toolsprites, to name two).
