This website contains an archive of files for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64 computers, which Dominic Ford has rescued from his private collection of floppy disks and cassettes.
Some of these files were originally commercial releases in the 1980s and 1990s, but they are now widely available online. I assume that copyright over them is no longer being asserted. If you own the copyright and would like files to be removed, please contact me.

Have you ever wanted to tidy up those scruffy handwritten cassette inlays? Well now you can with this Cassette Inlay Printer Utility. The final output from the Utility is a printed cassette inlay card. Needless to say you need a printer. The program is written for a Star NL-10 printer (Epson compatible), but all the printer commands in the program are REMed so you can easily adjust it to your own printer commands if necessary. From within the Utility you can detail up to 19 lines of text for each side of the cassette, plus the title and general information of each side. Automatically printed lines will help you cut the inlay to the correct size to fit a cassette box. You will be able to print 4 individual inlays on a single sheet of A4 paper, including seperate titles which you can stick onto the cassette itself so everything matches! The program is menu driven and when you have LOADed and RUN it you will be able to select from the various options by pressing the appropriate initial letter. Except when entering data all choices are by single key strokes; ie no need to press RETURN. Upper or lower case letters are valid. The menu options are described in detail below. SAVE (Press S) : The program will ask you for the filename to save under. If no data has been entered the program will not allow you to save a blank file. LOAD (Press L) : The program will ask you for the filename to load. Only data files created from within the Utitlity will load correctly. PRINT (Press P) : This option will print out the full inlay ready for cutting to size. The program first checks to see if any data exists, and if not will report the fact. Should you wish to print a blank inlay for temporary use you can enter a space in one of the text lines, the program will allow you to then print an inlay. Before printing starts the program checks that your printer is free and on-line and reports if it isn't! TITLE (Press T) : This will print just the title of the cassette so you can stick this to the cassette itself. Again the program checks to see if data exists and that the printer is ready. ENTER (Press E) : For entering new data this is the option you want. You will be shown the existing field at the top of the screen and given the option to leave it unaltered by pressing RETURN, or amending it by entering new data. You will be told how many characters are available for the entry you are using, and you will not be allowed to type in any more than can be printed. The first field to enter is the type of cassette eg C90 / C60 / Computer etc (Once this has been entered it will be displayed on the main menu page when you return to it.) Next you will be asked which side of the cassette you wish to detail first; press 1 or 2. Whichever side you choose the program will ask you to enter the Title (maximum 26 characters) followed by General Information (maximum 65 characters) and Dolby Information (maximum 3 characters). The information for the seperate tracks can now be entered. The tracks are referenced by letter A - S, 19 tracks in all (maximum 31 characters per track). When you have finished the complete details for that side will be displayed for checking. Any track can be edited by pressing the appropriate letter A - S, the title can be edited by pressing T. When you are satisfied that all is OK, pressing RETURN will take you back to the main menu. Now you can enter the details for the other side of the cassette. VIEW/AMEND (Press V) : This displays the full details for the chosen side of the cassette and allows you to simply view for checking, or to edit any track or title detail exactly as described above in ENTER. If you want to blank out a line of text simply enter the new details as a single Space. QUIT (Press Q) : If no data is present the program will end immediately you press Q. If you have entered data, or loaded a data file, you will be given the option to return to the menu to print or save before exiting the program.
