SpacePaint has two main screens. The Menu screen has colours to choose
from at the bottom of the screen and painting tools at the top.
The Painting screen is the blank screen on which you make your masterpiece.
To move from the Menu screen to the Painting screen, you just click on the
tool you want with the left button or, if the tool you want is
already selected, just press the right button.
ON THE PAINTING SCREEN: When using some tools, you will need to hold down
the left mouse button, but, for most tools, you simply need to
click - press and release - the button to start the action and click again
to complete the action. You can use the right button to abandon the
particular thing you are doing. The middle button always returns you to
the Menu screen.
USEFUL KEYS: The size of many tools can be adjusted before and during an
operation by using the Up and Down cursor keys. You can also do this
using the 'Tool Sizes' option on the Menu screen.
You can "undo" what you have done with any tool by pressing 'Delete'.
(Note: this must done before you return to the Menu screen.)
GRIDLOCK: If you are not sure what this does, we suggest you leave it off
("Grid Off"). When the gridlock is on ("Grid On") a sort of invisible grid
is placed over the Painting screen which acts like a magnet to the tool
you are using. This can be very useful for some things but it can also be a
nuisance when you are trying to do other things! You will soon see what
the gridlock does if you try it. But it will make no difference when you
