Summary Instructions for Notate Demonstration Version Launch the application by clicking on the !Notate icon. Shortly the program will load on to the icon bar. A single click on the icon will open a window. Dragging notes Press and hold down select button over a note and then move the mouse. A copy of the note will move with the pointer. Move the note to the first bar in the music. Release the button when the note is in the correct position. The note should sound. Each note is checked as it is released to see if there is sufficient space in the bar. Playing a tune To play the music, click with select on the green "tape recorder" button. Entering notes more quickly Use adjust button instead of select when clicking over a note that is already in your music. Holding adjust and dragging will produce a copy of that note length. Deleting notes Click on the note to be deleted with select. Drag the note out of the writing area into the grey area at the top of the window and release it. Other features Many other features can be accessed by pressing Menu in the Notate window. A Choices option is available on the icon bar menu. Loading songs Load songs by double clicking on their icons or by dragging them to Notate. Loading Voices Voice modules are loaded by double clicking on their icons if they have not already been automatically loaded with one of the songs. Changing Voices The voices in a song may be changed by pressing f5 and then clicking with the Menu button in the window of each track. A list of available voices will be displayed. Load additional voices as explained above. Some voices such as Drumkit1 for instance produce a different sound according to where a note is placed. The active notes for these "kits" are Middle C, D, E, F, G and A Editing Drag a highlight over a selected area of notes by clicking and dragging along the stave with the select button. The usual RISC-OS short cut keys (Ctrl-C etc) may now be used within the song or between one song and another. The Mixer Change the stereo "pan" with the top icon (Select and adjust to rotate left and right); change the volume level of each individual voice with the slider control; switch individual voices on and off with the buttons at the bottom.
