Overview
========
This software is intended to help teachers with the production of reports.
It takes statement sets and merges them with pupil details which are
obtained from the school administration system or, if this is not
available, they can be created from within !Report itself.
The reports produced include the pupils details thus enabling a personalised
report to be produced.

Disc Contents
=============
The Demo version of !Report DOES NOT include;
!ReportEd. This allows the user to create their own statement sets. In
this way the user can be sure that the statement sets say what they want
them to say.
!OMRPrint. If you decide to use the OMR interface one of the most tedious
jobs is the preparation of the OMR forms with the pupil details i.e. name,
subject, pupil number etc. !OMRPrint overprints the forms with this
information allowing the user the time to just enter the marks thus saving
time.
The Demo version is a cut down version of !Report.
This allows you to compile the example reports.
The save option has also been disabled.

Instructions
============
Load !Reports in the usual way.
!Report will automatically load a report folder
A status window will open detailing what the program is doing. It will
* Load the statements to be used
* Load the Marklist. These are the pupils who will be reported on.
* Load Marks. This will reload any marks which have already been awarded
* Clear marks. This ensures that the marks to be used are meant to be for
the pupils selected.
The two main windows will open,
� Pupil window.
This holds the details of the pupils who are to be reported
on. The arrows allow you to step through the pupil details one at a time.
The Edit button allows you to amend, add or delete pupil details.
The View button opens the View window and allows you to watch the report
being compiled.
The List button allows you to select a pupil without stepping through the
whole list.
� Chooser window.
This allows you to select the statements you wish to use about the pupil
whose details are displayed in the Pupil window. The window will only
display the number of options according to the contents of the statements
file.
� View window
This window display the reports as they are being compiled in the font
style and size selected. If the text turns red it means that the space
available to print the report, as determined by the Layout window, has
been exceeded. !Report will work much faster if this window is not open.

CSV file which can be merged with a report form
using a DTP or WP package. (The Demo Version
does not allow exporting)
OMR ... Allows the pupils marks to be entered via an
Optical Mark Reader
Print ... Allows the reports to be printed out and the
layout of the page onto which the reports are
to be printed to be determined
Options... This allows the font type and size to be
determined for the various components of the
report i.e. name, form, report etc.

Windows
=======
The Main and Pupil window are detailed above.
� OMR window
This will only work if a CD210 Optical Mark Reader Reader is linked to the
Serial Port of the computer. If this is so !Report will initialise it and
wait for OMR sheets to be fed into it. If an OMR is not fitted !Report
will 'timeout' and give a message.
� Print window
This uses RISC OS printer drivers and allows the user to print out a
selection of reports, the current report i.e. the one that is on the screen
or all the reports. The Demo version does not allow printing.
� Layout window
This allows the accurate positioning of the various elements of the report
on the page. The top frame tells the user which window is available for
positioning which is done with the arrows. The arrows on each side of the
frame allow different elements of the report to be edited. These include
the Report, Pupil name, Form and any continuaton sheets that may be
necessary.
� Options window
This allows the font type and size for the various elements of the report
to be edited. It also allows a Header to be added to the report i.e. the
subject of the report and the various parts of the pupils details which
are to be printed to be selected.

Other Features
==============
!Report can be used in a variety of ways. The full version allows users to
overprint OMR sheets as questionaires which can be linked to statement sets
for pupil profiling purposes. In this way by responding to certain, pre
prepared, questions a personalised pupil statement can be generated.
